... I am slightly obsessed with the rows of tall narrow houses. I just love how they are painted so nicely and have unique roof lines. If we lived in a city back home I would want to live in a building like that for sure. We walked past the important government buildings and palaces with guards. I feel bad for the guards because they must be freezing. After our walk along the river we headed back to our hotel to warm up.

It has been two months since I have arrived in Luleň. This means, that my time here is already halfway over. I have learned more in these past two months than I have in my 21 years of life and that is mostly attributed to the wonderful people that I have met while here. From friendly people in the library who recognize my accent, to happy strangers who take pity on three exchange students who are lost in Norway, to the friends who make me smile ...

There are a few Scottish boys studying at the university and all of the other exchange students who I have spoken to say that they have a difficult time understanding their Scottish accents. I found that interesting since the United States are younger than the United Kingdom. I would have thought that ...

... pedestrian sidewalks are paved in brick or concrete, and the bike paths are still elevated on the curb, but are offset towards the street and paved in asphalt. Also, at every intersection crossing, the pedestrian walkways do not have a curb dip like the bike lanes and are paved in the Swedish equivalent of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) brick. This seems like common knowledge, but without my city planning internship or civil engineering studies, I probably wouldn't ...

... seen the Princess of Sweden arrive on a 300 year old wooden ship in Luleň's harbor. I wouldn't have met some of the most welcoming and fun people, and I wouldn't have had a beautiful evening. I woke up that morning annoyed that I couldn't contact anyone, and had no idea that I would end the day cooking a feast and playing a ridiculous French drinking game with my two new friends.

The next morning, my mission was to finally get a bike. As nice as it was to ...
