My final observations
... to shield themselves from the angry sun. Apparently the customs people are not too efficient at processing the necessary paperwork and only a few trucks are allowed to cross now and then. Some truckies are stuck for 4 or 5 days. This truck shanty town is full of people who are starving and thirsty. The sook that went to the Souq (pronounced sook)

... camps in the interior of the island, I realized I was not where I thought I was going. I had ended up turning south somewhere instead of west and ended up on a road that my map indicated would soon dead end. But – another road connecting with the west coast is only a quarter of an inch away on the map. Maybe there’s a shortcut to this road, I pondered, not wanting to turn around and drive back several miles in the opposite direction to find the cross-island road I had ...
