Late this morning, after we had packed the car and given up hope of visiting Patrick (Paddy) Leigh Fermor's house, Mary got a call with the green light from the Benaki Museum in Athens. We walked there (half a mile along a public path) and were greeted by Elpida, supervisor of the house and Paddy's caretaker during the last 7 years of his long life. She showed us around (no photos inside) and told great strides with great affection for her old boss. ...

... so blue. We were just standing the the shade of the rockwall and the temperature about 25 degrees, doesn't get much better than that.

We started chatting to the two boys in charge of the rockwall activity and found out some interesting facts: They work a 7 month contract 7 days a week then get two months off..... Within that time they can be flown from one ship to another. Their food is not the same as we get and you could feed an army with ...

My husband asked for mussel rice ‘midopilafo’ for €9.80 while I had a portion of grilled prawns. The first was really filling and rich of flavor and taste. My own dish of grilled prawns was –the piece de resistance, simply ambrosia!
Prawns were so fresh that I did not even bother to sprinkle any oil on top or lemon. They were ...

The morning of November 30th dawned bright and sunny.

Friends had kindly offered me a lift to the Lemon Grove. Taxis cannot go along the lanes to get there, cars can during dry weather once the roads have been smoothed, but ideally you need a pick-up tuck or tractor if taking the route from the main Methoni-Koroni highway.

At a point on the way, it is possible to look back over ...

... in Greece and am pleased to admit I have changed by the car with the false belief that no one can see me. I have also changed the girls right on the beach. So there!

Once arriving back home, Kelly does his usual washing all our feet off and hanging the towels and bathing suits to dry. I shower the kids and myself and put out sandwiches for a quick supper. This vacationing stuff is hard work...time for some patio, a cold drink and early to ...
