        ... these locations in the past. The houses are huge, often with massive barns attached which must have housed provisions for you and the cattle for the winter because presumably once it snowed that was that until it thawed in a few months. It must have been tough.

        We have really enjoyed Italy; again. Tomorrow we head for Austria, the bit we missed last year.

        Last night a storm blew up and the wind was really fierce. The owner of the Villa Vittoria asked if there was anything we wanted, joking Charlie said make the weather 5C warmer. The next thing we knew he had lit the wood fire in the sitting room and brought us two nice glasses for the wine we had bought at Barbaresco. So we sat in front of the fire in the giant lounge of the villa drinking wine and reading, very nice.
