Today we took a trip up from 262m above sea level (Bolzano) to 1220m above via cable car. The photos unfortunately do not do the views justice. We spent a few hours wandering along amazing walking paths. This is a place that deserves a few days stop in anyone's itinary. There was even a convention of sorts of folks listening to talks on high altitude medicine.

Think it a hub for skiing but had a little train for a pleasant trip giving great views of the Dolomites , more in the distance than what we've been used to. This was all free on our travel card provided by the hotel, Then we made our way to a special museum just ...

... with Helene who was going to take it up to the Hotel Almdorf in Neustift, from where it would be ferried up to the Dresdner Hut where we could meet it for our (hoped-for) climb of the Zuckerhutl. In town we passed the store and factory of the Stubai company. In the window was an eclectic mix of ice climbing equipment and general hardware. Literally ice screws lying next to drywall gear – a mix of REI and Home Depot.
