... of running!! Yippee. Poor skipper had a bit of an upset tummy last night. Poor poor skipper. However on the bright side he will not have to use the loo for a while......... Enough said. All better this morning. All in all relaxing so far. Today we are off to Dirsek a small bay with a single restaurant that is not accessible by road. Photos etc will be uploaded as they are ...
Very beautiful old city and ruins. 300 days of sunshine a year. Visited the Knights of St John castle. We have now visited the 7 wonders of the Ancient Greek and Roman world without really trying! Very warm day again but moderately cooler at 31 than they had 3 days ago - 47c. Sailed to Symi this afternoon, a very beautiful town with colourful houses perched on the side of the harbour. Had to have a banana ...
... we could at least park off of the road in a safe place, and thankfully right across the road from a flashy modern hotel, the Lindos View.
Luckily, the desk clerk was able to call Avis for us but was very unclear as to what our fate would be, telling us only that someone would be coming to Lindos to help us. We weren't sure if that meant that they would bring us a new car, send a mechanic to fix the car, or just send someone to pick us up and bring us back ...
I chew the human to bits and then swallow the bits of flesh floating under the water. I swim under the water searching for more stuff to eat. As I swim across the large expanse of water I run into a few submarine mines and they explode the moment I hit them burning my flesh, but the mines don't kill me so I swim to the surface to regain some of my health by eating another unlucky person. Out of nowhere a huge great white shark swims out of the depths of ...
... was fun to be back in a car since the roads in Greece are so eventful but also because the scenery is so unbelievably beautiful at every turn. Driving down the west coast of Rhodes island we stopped into a small roadside taverna for lunch. The matronly host could be seen to cut off small pieces of herb plants from her own little garden just off the patio upon which we were dining, and even gave us a couple of sprigs of freshly-cut basil to take with us. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews The Ixian Grand
Fantastic holiday would no hesitation in recomending this hotel and cannot wait to go back.
Terrible for children
I stayed in this hotel with my huband and two children 3 and 14 month old. The hotel was lovely and clean we couldnt fault it in any way, exept it doesnt cater for children at all. At meal times it was a nightmare the food was lovely but not for children. if my fourteen month old baby dropped food on the floor the head waiter would be on the floor cleaning it up moaning about it, eventually my husband went to speak to the hotel manager as it was embarrasing he got in reply 'look after your children better then' Other than that it is a lovely hotel and the animation team are absolutly fantastic the only other thing the night time entertainment is outside at the side of the pool so if youve got young kids you will have to have eyes in the back of your head
We spent a really relaxing week at this hotel. There was a personal welcome at reception where we were ushered to a seat and given a drink before completing forms and handing over passports.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable as was the rest of the hotel. The selection of food at the buffet restaurant was good. Swimming pool facilities were good, although there were perhaps not enough sun beds for all.
The animation team were very hard working and friendly. We had a very nice holiday and would reccomend this hotel to our friends. Can't wait to go back!
We have just returned from our first holiday to Greece on the beautiful island of Rhodes. We stayed at the 4star Hotel Elina in the resort of Ixia. We found it to be a first class quality hotel - well presented clean, tidy and well maintained. This hotel is to be 5star in 2006 and is to be renamed the Ixian Grand. The welcome is a pleasant experience and not the usual hustle and bustle associated with checking in - it was very sedate and calming with a nice cold drink awaiting. Could have done with that drink being an ice cold alcoholic long one though. Porter service was good too.
stayed in this beautiful hotel for our 28th wedding anniversary.
We returned to our room after lunch on our anniversary to find a bottle of sparkling wine ( in ice bucket) and a bowl of fruit. That night we went for our evening meal in the al a carte resturant to have an anniversary cake sparkler and all very nice.
rooms are very clean an well maintained bath robes could be larger.
Beach towels are good but they need a better system for the changing of same.
Had no problem leaving our belongings in our room or by the pools!!!!
Elina hotel was brilliant
the elina hotel was beautiful, the food was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. The animation team were great fun and good with the kids, we will definitely be going back!
Loved the Elina it is in a superb setting
We had a superb holiday at the Elina. we were there from the 6th July until the 21st .The hotel is excellent clean and well looked after. The food was plentiful and above average. Lots to do for children and adults alike. The pools are fabulous and there are plenty of sun beds to go around. the second week was busier so you had to be up and about early to get the best spot. Not once did I hear of anyone having anything stolen. We felt very safe during our stay.
myself,my wife and my 3yr old son have just returned from 2 weeks A.I.at the hotel elina.very classy hotel, good food, beautiful cocktails, good standard of accomodation.the first 10 days were bliss,we were going to re-bookagain for next year until we arrived back in our room one early evening to find that our camcorder, the carry bag that it was in and the charger had been taken from our room.the charger was at the other end of the room,so the thief obviously had seen this prior to the theft.there was no forced entry as the police were called,so the only other way in was with a key,as the door was not left open.there was nothing else stolen, not even sunglasses or some euros that were left in a drawer under the camcorder.i spoke to the manager the following morning after a sleepless night and he refused to believe that a member of his staff had stolen my property, and even questioned if i had owned the camera to begin with,we promptly moved to another hotel!
On of the best in Rhodes
It's the second time I've visited this beautiful hotel. Friendly people and atmosphere, perfect location(beachfront) for exploring Rhodes and beautifully renovated rooms and public areas. Great food and beverage quality and superb animation team. Strongly recommended to those wanting to enjoy a luxurious stay at the best price.
