It's a nice change to sleep in a very COOOL room, stone walls on all sides, and (again--this is the third time we've had a room with beds for two more people than we needed) big! Just a few minutes' walk into town, and very helpful staff. I must say that one's stay in any place is always made better or worse by the hosts. Here, we thoroughly enjoyed Perihan and her adorable daughter, Nimet. Both were so enjoyable, and on our last day Nimet said, "Don't go!" and gave me kisses and a hug. They really were wonderful.

You realize that you are indeed there in flesh, but you cannot fathom that what you are seeing exists in nature and that you are lucky enough to be there to witness it. It is home to some of the most incredible land formations that don’t even …

... an electric milking machine for sale! Next...on to the underground city of Kaymakli. Built thousands of years BC, it served as a hiding place for many groups of persecuted groups throughout the ages. Christians once lived there to hide from the Romans. It was 8 levels deep...we only went down 4 levels. Some of the tunnels were so low you had to almost duck walk thru them! They built churches, ...

We are in Turkey, in no small part, because of Cappadocia. Images of this place have fascinated me for years. Here fairy tale castles seem to melt out of massive mountains and march toward the open plain. Like the Badlands of South Dakota, an erosional process first forms valleys, then, because some of the rock is harder than the rest it resists erosion and columns form. The columns look like mushrooms to some, like something more phallic to others. This is geology ...
