It's a nice change to sleep in a very COOOL room, stone walls on all sides, and (again--this is the third time we've had a room with beds for two more people than we needed) big! Just a few minutes' walk into town, and very helpful staff. I must say that one's stay in any place is always made better or worse by the hosts. Here, we thoroughly enjoyed Perihan and her adorable daughter, Nimet. Both were so enjoyable, and on our last day Nimet said, "Don't go!" and gave me kisses and a hug. They really were wonderful.

The region is also know for wine making. Tonight I tried the traditional pottery cooked dish. ...

... Cavusin. When we were leaving the village there were some really roo,y bumps, a bit like stutters. I went through them first and then Mum was behind me. Behind her were the two other people who were in our group. The man behind Mum thought she was going too slow so he tried to make a pass but Mum had a smoother line and he had big bumps and got out of control and nearly shot himself off a bank. We went through many more little villages. On the way back we had a really fun rolly ...

Thanks to the audio tour, we learn the site was home to 10th-12th century monks that built homes and churches into the caves, covering the walls with detailed frescos depicting the life of Jesus. Mostly we learn about the saints and apostles shown in the frescoes and, while that's interesting, I would have liked to learn more about the ...
