oh kids, you wouldn't believe how lucky we were on our game drive last night! we came across a herd of about 10 elephants, including a baby of less than a year. the late day light made the whole scene so beautiful! i took so many photos that i'm really happy with. the baby pics are just too cute for words as was that baby! you know how loud i laugh and i really had to temper it while watching him (and yes he was a boy) try to pull a plant from the ground. he couldn't wrap his trunk around it ...
Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa tkillipi did, i did see a rhino!!! holy moly, my day was made and it wasn't even 6am. we went to the end of the airstrip and there they were, TWO rhino. they will elude me no more - i have finally seen the Big Five. some people in Thornhill said they saw the Big Six when Elton John was game viewing next to them but really, i'm more excited about the rhino. seeing them in the wild really gives you perspective on how large they are and this male and female were only 5-6 years old! when she turned towa...

Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga, South Africa neilandchris... guy is helping me out. Then an Application box came up, and then he started pushing buttons, insisting I put my pin in. I kept putting wrong ones, and then a receipt printed out. Saying it requested 1500 Rand and it didn't complete. My card came out, and I got the hell out of there. Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, South Africa easyrider1234... the weather had broken (luckily we were in a hotel and not our tents). I thought only the rockies had such extreme temperature changes. The next morning it was absolutely wonderful to have to dig out our fleece jackets from the bottom of our packs. We spent this week in Kruger National Park. The park is similar to the size and shape of Israel and in terms of wildlife, it has it all. The park is extremely well organized and maintained. It is easily ...
Nelspruit, South Africa vangorp... with rattles and creaks and the like [LYNNE: And it looks like it hasn't been redesigned since the 1980s...it's like a box on wheels! Nevertheless, potential hi-jackers are probably not that interested in Chico, which I suspect is why it's a popular rental car around here]. Moreover, Chico drives more like a Chica, if you know what I mean. In fact, upon first starting the car, the battery seemed weak, and it took awhile to start. When I tried to put Chico into first gear ...
Kruger Park, South Africa andymo99... and trivial they would become.) The drive took us all over their reserve with a stop over a waterhole at sunset. Sundowners (cocktails and snacks) were a nice break from the bouncing in the open 4x4. All in all we saw fewer animals than we expected but the high from what we DID see and the joy of simply being there took us through the evening. Dinner was enjoyed and all went to bed excited (but wishing it was later) for the 4:30 am wake up for the sunrise drive. The next 2 days ...
