Labas vakaras (LAH-bahs- VAH-kah-rahs) Good evening from Vilnius!

In Tallinn, the front desk was nice enough to ask me my flight's departure time and insisted that I need not be at the airport 2 hours in advance since it's a small airport. She suggested that the taxi pick me up at 1pm and offered me my room until 12:30pm. That worked well for me, just lay down and relaxed.

After inspecting several places of interest we ended in front of the Town Hall where we farewelled our guide & had lunch. ... his Game of Thrones fantasies by sneaking in a cheeky 6 shots on a crossbow in one of the deserted courtyards, taking out a duck, a meerkat and the red bit on the bullseye. In your face, King Joffrey!

We cycled back up the pretty main street of Trakai to get back to the hotel, checked out and caught the local train to our new hotel in Vilnius, the Raddison Blu hotel. Luxury. A far cry from the "Best Hostel" in Riga.

... hills have now become a place of national pilgrimage. Our last stop in Lithuania was Vilnius, with a trip to Trakai Castle just to the West. As the photos show, it was a fairy tale castle and location. It sits on a small island among 5 lakes, the original castle being built in 1321 to fend off the German knights, and has been extensively restored over the past 100 years.
