Luckily, the weather held out for us all day. It had been supposed to rain that day but it remained relatively overcast and only sprinkled a little. If anything it was a nice break from the heat we had been having.
Once we got back to Florence it was about 7pm and time to start thinking about dinner. When we had checked in to the hotel, the gentleman had made many recommendations about where to go and what to see. We decided ...
... wait at the bottom. The inside of the tower is hollow and a level inside allowed me to really appreciate how significant the lean was. From the tower we headed to the Cathedral. It was ornately decorated inside. Instead of ceiling murals, the ceiling was covered in an ornate golden pattern. I prefer colorful painting but even without them this Cathedral was beautiful. With nothing else to see in Pisa we headed back to Florence. We relaxed for a bit before heading out to see ...
... but miraculously it started to clear as we descended on the town. Parking was easy, all signposted nice and clearly and only about 250m from the Campo del Miracoli or Field of Miracles, where the Leaning Tower of Pisa (Torre Pendente) is.
