Istanbul – what a fascinating city. We had no idea really what to expect, other than what we had heard or read about this diverse, over-populated city where East meets West. However, our first impressions were of a very cosmopolitan and vibrant city, and so far, not the wall-to-wall people I had feared.
We said goodbye to Pete and Ailsa this morning, and it was sad to see them on their way. We've all had so much fun together during the last ...
... upside of our delay was that it allowed me to get over motion sickness and a migraine that I suffered from on our long flight. We also arrived in Istanbul to a fairly quiet airport and very little traffic on the way to the hotel. I wondered on the flight why I'd been interrogated more than anyone else I observed, both at the airport and when I'd first entered the country. I think it's because I'm a solo traveller, and therefore far more likely ...
Sleep was at a premium between coolness and warmth, not getting comfortable [notwithstanding a flat bed] and from somewhere a stuffed nose. A developing headache did not help but it cleared.
The brekkie fruit plate, yogurt, muffin, OJ and black coffee were fine. Should have passed on the omelet as too much.
At gate 218 before 0930 IST time with roughly 12H to consider. Bearing in mind chiefly fatigue and the prospect of touring at roughly 0300 on the body ...
