... were fish stalls, groaning under the weight of the days catch. Most of the fish had their gills popped out, to advertise just how fresh they were and were constantly being doused in fresh water to keep away flys and to stop them drying out. There were plenty of equally well stocked vegetable stalls and an over-riding smell of olives throughout emanating from the numerous delicatessens.

... so much so that it was very difficult to walk and certainly difficult at times to stop and ponder over a possible purchase. The crowds were larger than we've encountered in New York except on special occasions such as New Year's Eve or during the Thanksgiving Day parade. We were told by some of our fellow travelers that they were nothing compared to the crowded conditions we would encounter early next year during our trip to India.

... Palace we took the coach to the Grand Bazaar, where we had about one hour and a half to wander around. Our first port of call was Starbucks for a hot chocolate and a bite to eat but then we headed for the entrance to the bazaar through Gate 1. There are something like 4,000 shops in the bazaar and you could frankly spend all day there looking at the various things for sale.
