... country of their choice and then provided their peers with a snapshot of the culture of the country. In addition to these activities our students performed their much rehearsed chinese song which was well received by the crowd. Later they all danced with the Hangzhou students and enjoyed the festive atmosphere.

As we wound our way up a narrow, steep path, our guides described some of the history of tea culture and told stories of local folklore of which there are always many! One of them tells as follows: Longjing tea was granted the status of "Imperial tea", in Qing Dynasty by Chinese emperor Kangxi. According to the legend, Kangxi's grandson Qianlong visited West Lake during one of his famous holidays.

A short boat ride through the town took us back to our hotel. Because Chinese New Year is fast approaching, a typical site outside many homes and businesses is fish, ducks, and other animals being dried in preparation for the New Year’s feast!

Our final stop was at a well-known Rice Wine Farm and factory. The owner conducted the tour himself ...

Barely took any photos in Hangzhou as it ****** it down most of the time we were there but here are a few. Hangzhou isn't much of a wintery place really as most of the activities are based around the lake. We attempted to walk around it on my birthday but got soaked through so went to a silk museum instead. I told you it was three wet and wild girls let loose in China...We made up for the ****** weather by going for some real nice food at a restaurant called Grean Tea restaurant though. ...

We were given an insight as to how busy this theatre was and how many people lined the stairs and spilled over the court yard. This was a very good start for students to 'sticky rice concept'. As if they did not behave in this manner it very easy for them to get lost in the sea of tourists entering the show.

What a mind blowing show, where theatre met fantasy ...
