Day 45 (Saturday 26 Sept) Bordeaux to Barcelona I have wondered how interesting this blog would be if everything went according to plan. Well today we find out because the train trip was unremarkable. We got to the right station on time, no delays, seats were comfy and vacant, just your usual, enjoyable train trip. HOORAY Once again the instructions to our apartment were straightforward and we arrived there on time. Early afternoon. We knew that the apartment was up 4 flights ...

This morning we flew to Barcelona. We got to our hotel at lunchtime. The hotel is very fancy. We have 2 balconies. We went to a great buffet restaurant for lunch, Jacob ate lots! We spent nearly two hours there! After that we walked down La Ramblas, a big street through Barcelona. There were lots of beautiful buildings and ice cream stalls. We went to the Palau Gruell, a house designed by Gaudi. It was so big and one of the most ...

The rider was Hungarian and soon to travel to central and South America. That left us about a 200 metre walk home. The bottom of La Rambla was quiet, but closer to our hotel was still quite busy, particularly the queues for the night club. We got to the hotel about 2am and updated the blog to about ...

... box with the necessary paperwork etc. We then headed off to Casa Batllo, another Gaudi creation. It was a beautiful building and, as I had purchased express tickets on line, we walked straight in. The building is extraordinary and people still live in a number of the apartments. After visiting Casa Batllo we headed down to the Barcelona Markets where we just wandered around looking at all the beautiful produce. We ...

Day 2 was very relaxed. No one was up before 10, which was good because we returned from dinner at 12 and Max watched the US soccer game first at a local tapas place and then at our VRBO. I found a local pastry shop then bought fruit at a bodega and we ate as we were ready. We walked through the Gothic quarter to the Picasso museum. It highlights Picasso's early art when he was living in ...
