Good morning? night? afternoon?

... lights were broken as well...but past that, it was actually fine. I´m a little ****** at American, though, because they broke one of the buckles on my (Nick´s) sleeping bag. [Nick - I´ll be getting it fixed. Don´t cry.] But I love Sevilla. It reminds me, in fact, of Italy...but definitely has a different flavor to it. I´ve tried, lamely, to pick up some Spanish from a book on tape ...

... historic hotel). There were two important roads out of the town (accompanied by gates into the city), one towards Cordoba and another towards Sevilla. Inside, we first went to the Tourist Center, located within an old Fortress of the city (Muslim Alcazar) near the Gate of Sevilla. Climbing to the top of the Golden Tower, we had great views of the city and churches below ...

... watching the sun set over the river. The bridges are illuminated at night, which is a beautiful view, as the lights of the city are reflected off the water. (Check out the pictures!!) The second day in Sevilla was also a great experience. We saw so much! I also learned even more about Spanish history and culture. The visit to the palace was so interesting! It was fascinating to see how architecture is ...

... Some of the dancers, especially with the long trains on the dresses use the train in the dance flicking it around to great effect. It was cool to see a range of regional Flamenco styles and costumes. and I also learnt that Flamenco was likely born from Belly Dancing and the castinets from the zils (tiny finger cymbols that belly dancers play while they dance). You can see some similarities actually, but Flamenco has moved on quite a lot ...

The Flamenco of Sevilla

... get a better look at Triana and the ceramic art they are famous for. Later back across the river we made sure to see a few more major landmarks of Sevilla, then headed back to the hotel for a rest on the patio. That night we were able to experience one of the greatest arts of Sevilla--the dance of the flamenco. We attended a late night show at the El Arenal where a group of performers (both females and males of all ages) danced, sang, and played the guitar. The flamenco ...

... gaggle of older British women on how the recording system works. Basically some British dude or chick will tell you something interesting when there is something interesting. There will be periods of silence. After all that, I'm just spent. Mostly my feet. I gather my belongings from the hostAl and go to the bus station to catch the 5:15 bus to Cordoba (9.69E). Guess what? The Aussie couple is on the same bus. They're following me.

... booking my hostel , and not being able to cancel without having to pay, I stuck it out. Not that it wasn´t worth a visit, but would´ve been better seen on a day trip from neighboring city Seville, rather than spending 2 nights there. Its never fun when you get somewhere and feel stuck, not to mention it rained the entire time, so I was happy to leave yesterday. I left by bus and headed further west to a city called Seville. I´m ...

Class Cancelled

Hola!   This morning was great. We arrived at the CIEE center for our 12pm class to find out that it is canceled. Our teacher is 8 months pregnant and decided that she needed to take her leave of absence two weeks early. We were sent home for the day and will have our new teacher tomorrow. It felt like a snow day and Becky and I went home and decided ...

... that the next place that we go will be a Spanish café and we felt bad for selling out for Starbucks. After warming up, we went over to el Parque Maria Luisa and strolled through on our way to Plaza de España. The Parque was beautiful and it will be a great place to go in the spring to relax or study. Once we got to Plaza de España, we were amazed. It was amazing and I can see why it is always on the front cover of every book for Sevilla. It was very pretty and the place was ...

10 hours of school today...boo!

Since our teacher for our first class of the day had to miss one of our previously scheduled classes, she decided to add 1 hour of class to today's schedule and to next Wednesday's schedule. This means that I had grammar class from 9-12 instead of 10-12. And yes, 3 hours of grammar in a row is BRUTAL! And to make matters worse, my alarm clock didn't go off and I woke ...
