Petra via the Back Door
... hoping to get back to our hotel in time for their buffet. We got back in time, the buffet wasn't on tonight! So after cleaning the blood and dirt off me from the day it was around the corner for another buffet followed by some free aniseed tea. So that was Petra and i was considering going to Wadi Rum the following day but after noticing I had already spent far more than expected in Jordan, I arranged for a bus to take me to Aqaba the next day in order to get onward boat travel to Egypt.

... just lots of Bedouin men siting in a circle drinking tea and no bride or women in sight. A bit like a frum Jewish wedding but without the wild dancing and excitement. Perhaps we had missed the best bits. Then we went to the desert where we had lamb and chicken cooked on an open fire and the guys sang Bedouin songs. That was magical. Then we bedded down for the night under the stars.
