... The cool pine smell is so refreshing and clean. We continue our walk only to find a deeper, earthier pine resin smell. We both breathe in deeply. This smell, coupled with glorious lake views, enchants us. We come to an open place of rock and lake where, lo and behold, we see fresh bear scat. Oh yeah. Good thing we have bear spray on our hips.

We continue our hike up to the Cascades. The water rushes by and batters the rocks. People line the bridge to take ...

... hanging out. They didn’t seem to be too bothered by our presence. Because it was so clear, we decided to drive up to the Signal Mountain viewpoint at 7727 feet and it was well worth it. What a view! It was so nice to see clearly and have blue skies. We found a great picnic place overlooking Jackson Lake and stopped for some lunch, then headed back to Jackson. I couldn’t resist taking some more mountain pictures, even though the peaks were still in the clouds. ...

I have seen a lot of this country. Probably more than I can remember, actually. I am always impressed how amazing it is, and Yellowstone was no different. We woke up in Cody, Wyoming, about an hour east of Yellowstone. After a few errands in town, we headed into the Shoshone National Forest and Yellowstone.
