... gorgeous little town. All the buildings were really cute, and there was a small plaza in the middle. We spent the rest of Friday afternoon just relaxing and walking round the town. We found a really cute little cafe and had lasagna for dinner. We stayed in a little guest house with a courtyard full of flowers.
On Saturday we visited "El Fuerte" a pre-inca site that's been used for centuries, for religious purposes ...
Samaipata, Bolivia gordon13... to redistribute wealth more evenly. The people in the lowlands (including Santa Cruz) aren´t happy about this because the majority of wealth in Bolivia comes from the natural gas resources in that area, which they have traditionally benefited from. There´s many other side issues, but Evo called a referendum (early election) to decide if he should still be president. Leading up to the election, protests and demonstrations were rife, although none of them affected our ...
Samaipata, Bolivia bilinga... to walk the whole site and did really enjoy it. When I had finished my trek around the site, I was on the way down the hill and an Israli trekker asked if I would like to share a cab back to the village. Well, I jumped at the chance, and was soon back in the restaurant, drinking a beer and eating a little dinner. The next day, I arose early, found a collective back to Sta. Cruz, and was back in town before afternoon.
Samaipata, Bolivia liesbetd... caved out of stone on top of a near by mountain, and although it was very nice, very little is know about the site and very little has been excavated. Part of it looks as if it could have been a UFO landing site! As it was only 9km from town we walked back to town enjoying the mountain views. Samipata is a small town on the edge of the national park Amboro. The park is at the correct elevation that it is situated in the clouds the majority ...
Samaipata, Bolivia calvin.latha... the monkeys in particular were great value. Later that afternoon we made the mistake of listening to a cab driver who seemed to think the weather was good for visiting the locl waterfalls, but when we arrived it was drab and overcast; in stark contrast to the glorious sunshine in Samaipata town. However, we decided to make the most of it and spent a couple of hours walking the trails before the cold got the better of us and we ...
Samaipata, Bolivia janicoo... be a good choice and we spent the next 3 days here. Our first night happened to be a saturday and after we decided to pop into a bar for 1 drink on our way home from dinner........usual story never just 1... it turned into a rather long but fun night. The bar had a live band so we spent most of the night here with a side trip to a bar that was having its opening night. Well we arrived late and by then it was bar without beer or alcohol of any ...
Samaipata, Bolivia freyal... I would know of course!...Anyway it is a beautiful quiet little town with lots of little cafes a beautiful Central Park and dusty cobble stone streets...once again it seems to be one of those towns that foreigners come to and decide that wish to stay awhile so they set up a shingle of small business and become part of the communtity...hence the honey skin products...hiking tour companies...cute cafes and book shops..and stylish backpackers. They mostly ...
Samaipata, Bolivia nenebene... poked his head out to watch. Fantastic. On the plus side, the view heading out past the dinosaur park was fantastic, so I had a beautiful view with my head out the window. Oddly, there were stray dogs seated on the side of the road every 200 metres. In my hazy state, I thought of them as my support crew, cheering me on through my journey of hell. Luckily my stomach settled down by nightfall, and we both got some sleep, well, when the babies seated in front and behind of us ...
