Narwahl!!

... really well, and they just want to continue practicing their English, and they don't necessarily need as much practice with grammar.

At one point, we decided to name a category, and someone chose ocean and the beach. They all started naming various things like sand, shark, waves, etc. Then someone shouted, "Narwahl." The other two students teaching the class were like, "What ...

2nd Day in Madrid

... We stopped and met rachel’s boyfriend Rolando at a café for a few Canas (beers) and Tapas before dinner. I love madrid in the eveing. Everyone is outside, everyone is enjoying themselves, everyone is eating and drinking. Just sitting at a café is amazing. Rachel and Rolando made us dinner, a meat sausage dish over pasta that was amazing. We followed it with some drinks and then went out on the ...

Welcome Chad and Mom / Jake turns 21!

... of the potato. I could tell Mom was liking all the tapas, but nothing really that made her say, "Ooh, that's awesome!," which was my goal at least. Mom enjoyed some good house wine while I made the mistake of a ordering what is the Spanish Version of Bud Light Lime. My mistake-I'll know not to order that one again. Mom went back to her hotel room and I proceeded to meet up with some friends and got to a club called Pasha that night. I ended up meeting some ...

Tapas, Via Gran and the Inquisition

... filled them in on my TW status (train wreak) and I could hear them laughing from down the hall. I dont know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. They could have been laughing at me or with me. We chilled out in the room until 11, when the pubcrawl began. We were greeted by a cute German, who was our pubcrawl leader. She had said that the only thing she was going to do was take a picture and then get to drunk to care. Sounded like fun. We went to a bunch of bars ...

Sevilla, train, Madrid arrival

... small and winding and so cool to navigate. The city is really just exquisite!! We all had more mojitos. They were good, but certainly not the best of the trip. One of the waiters was cute, but since he was working, Edie and I decided it wasn´t worth the effort and that we would find me a boy elsewhere. We headed across the river to a part of the city that was filled with people. Tents lined the water selling everything, and the ...

Getting Engaged in Madrid

... a ring in the two weeks he had before he would come to visit me. My dad was the one who found the jeweler, a soccer coach Nick had a couple years ago. Despite telling my parents that he didn't have much of an opinion when it came to rings, he soon found that he knew exactly what my ring should look like, and by the end (so they tell me) he was telling them to make a ring that was just barely feasible. The ring is made of platinum because he knew I liked the color silver ...

... how its wrong to be a demon. He asks them "Is it ok to blow snot bubbles out of your nose?" The children...."NoooO!" The dude, "The demon says it is, it IS ok to blow snot out your nose!" The kids are more furious and should "NOOOOOO!" Then he stops the show to grab a little boy by the coat, turn him around in his seat and say "If you're not going to pay attention, then you need to leave." The little boy lowers his head all sad. If there's anything that I like ...

... smoking and drinking with my Maltese friends and this random group of Portuguese whom we met in our travels. The cultural seminar, and the language exchange, that took place that morning was quite simply amazing. I learned some Portugese, Italian, Maltese, and Spanish, while teaching English and French in return. If I hadn't been as tired as I was, I would have been sad at it's end. I enjoyed my two hours of sleep, before having to leave the hostel, immensely. My night was incredible.

Jews and Muslims and Christians, Oh My!

... in private while attending Catholic services or suffered great discrimination and the Inquisition. Since the Christians took over, the main mosque was torn down to make way for the gothic cathedral there now, and one of the important synagogues has been defaced with Christian "improvements." On Saturday, we took a trip to the city and visited the cathedral, the Church of Saint Thomas (which is known for a famous painting by El Greco) and the aforementioned Sinagoga del ...

Madrid.
