We found a couple of pods of them and followed them for quite some time. I must say that I loved every second of it. They are mesmerizing. And frankly it was very moving. ... El Ray as we drove up to the volcanic summit of the island called El Teide. It was a pretty fun road full of switchbacks that took us through every conceivable landscape from rainforest to snow to pine trees to mists so thick you couldn't see ten feet down the road. Our next shore stop was Santa Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands.

This is a major big city. While the island of Lanzarote is around 140,000, Santa Cruz on the island of Tenerife is over 200,000 people alone. Again, the modern city structures are unbelievable since all of the products to build had to be shipped in. ... I enjoyed ham salad, sandwiches, crisps and several glasses of wine, as we wouldn’t be getting a meal on the plane (budget airline and all that).

Eventually our flight was called and we made our way to Gate 9 to board. The aircraft was around half an hour late taking off, then we were airborne and on our way back to Blighty. At least it was only a four-hour flight this time, and not 14 hours the way it was last January ...
