Another night in San José

... she met in Montezuma, and I kind of felt I had missed out on something. The funny thing was that I had seen her on the beach the day before, when I decided to get my last dip in the ocean after relaxing at Ylang Ylang. The coconut I saw her drinking had actually been brought down from a tree for her by some of the local surfer guys. However, I was not keen on leaving my belonging unattended while swimming, so I waited until these 3 Swiss ...

... with you while we walk in the dark. Was my inner thought “Oh don't say that about yourself” was my outer sentiment.

I kept going to the classes by myself.

I have yet to figure out exactly what the dress code is. There are some people who come in workout clothes. Some men have on their clothes from work. Some women have on tight jeans and flat shoes…some heels. I go just looking an absolute mess…whatever. I mean ...

The unmarked house on the street with no name

... we sat and talked (well she spoke and I did a lot of pointing and grunting) It was nice. She is so sweet.

After I had gotten dressed we took a walk around the neighborhood. She showed me where my school was. ( Ummm…there are no street names. The directions to my school are down 2 corners and up the less busy street to the busy one.) and the mall and McDonald’s and KFC. She decided that she was hungry so we sat down to a traditional Costa Rican ...

Day II- the beat goes on...

Rain Started: No Rain, a rare day in San Jose.

Last night's devotion focused on struggles that the team encountered both while working and about life in general. This provided some much needed mentoring between the young and "wiser" team members.

The morning bible study was focused on doing the work you are called to do, when you are called to do it. The verse was John 4: 34-38. About five team members get up early each ...

Keeping Busy-As far from my home here as possible

... we had the two guys with us so it was alright. So when we got to the bar, we realized it was a restaurant and it was actually really nice inside. We saw our friends sitting with Tracey and she laughed when she saw me and said she had to tell me all about what happened. It got so bad at the house with Gloria constantly listening into her skype conversations and complaining about her bad marriage and all this other stuff that she felt uncomfortable and ...

Mile-High Reflections

... spend an entire Saturday night's worth of tips on a pair of shoes, but then, I am cheap. No matter how obnoxious it was, I will probably soon forget the dissonant symphony of barking dogs every night, or the humidity that turned my cough drops into a pool of cough syrup at the bottom of my medicine bag. Almost every afternoon the dampness gave way to rain, which sometimes fell with such force, the drops bounced a foot off the ground. Occasionally it stopped before sunset ...

Leaving Pura Vida

... When I arrived I found out the flight was going to depart a half hour late. I let out a huge sigh then had to figure out how to get in touch with Craig to let him know my flight would be late. I bought a phone card with tropical fish on it, called Craig and let him know the status then walked onto the plane. I was very happy to get to my seat with my backpack to head home. I arrived back home happy to see Craig at the airport!
