On Sunday October 19, we regretfully said Hasta Luego to Jose and Paloma and family, and drove an hour to Burgos. Another gorgeous fall day -- we parked and walked into the Hotel Cordon. There in the lobby was our very own peregrino (pilgrim), my aunt Julie Gordon (for those who don't know, my mom's sister who lives in Oakland, CA). The boys call her Jumping Julie.

It was a treat to share stories of our mutual travels. They were about to start their third ...

A day of adjustments, plan and expectations! Alyssa was up all night really sick unbeknownst to me since I went to bed at 8:00. She woke me at 3:00 am thinking she should go to the hospital. As we were walking through the village of Rabe de las Calzados a man handed us each a small trinket with Mary on it as a token ...

A steep climb up to a cross marking the high point for the day of approx 1,100 metres, followed by an equally steep descent into the flat area leading into Burgos. We walked around the airport and were fortunate to see a couple of military training jets taking off, circling and landing again. Boy they are fast! Pretty exciting stuff. The walk into Burgos seemed to take forever and a day! Fortunately a friend had given me great instructions for an alternative ...

... lunch in the Plaza and followed Barry around as he collected stamps for his Compostella (Camino passport) It would not do for him to have more than the rest of us, so we have to be on the lookout. A tour of the Burgos Cathedral exhausted us. The photos serve merely as prompts for a trip back to the 13th century. We plan to rest, have dinner, rest, then set out on a 40km ride from Burgos to Castrojeritz ...
