On Sunday October 19, we regretfully said Hasta Luego to Jose and Paloma and family, and drove an hour to Burgos. Another gorgeous fall day -- we parked and walked into the Hotel Cordon. There in the lobby was our very own peregrino (pilgrim), my aunt Julie Gordon (for those who don't know, my mom's sister who lives in Oakland, CA). The boys call her Jumping Julie.

It was a treat to share stories of our mutual travels. They were about to start their third ...

I also saw an older gentleman riding a beautiful horse. The Camino has a way ...

We walked past the labyrinth I walked to yesterday; it was so pretty in the early morning light, quite different to the late afternoon light...different hues. We walked through an area at Atapuerca which is a UNESCO World Heritage site due to the discovery of 900,000 year old human remains. There's even evidence of human activity dating back 1,000,000 ...

... Mom, I made it to the top!") We wended our way thankfully downward and rejoined an artery which took us quickly and easily to Burgos. The final 8km into Burgos required careful negotiation but like Pamplona we soon came to a bicycle path which led to the centre of town. From our hotel The Palacio de la Merced we can see the river, the extraordinary cathedral - and that is just looking out our roof window, ...
