    ... to Santiago.

    We spent the morning in town which gave us time to wander the city streets, view the cathedral - claiming to be one of the finest Gothic buildings in the world - and grab a lunch of "pinchos" which was the origins of tapas; a slice of bread topped with a range of tidbits - very tasty.
    We then countinued north and west towards Leon and another good climbing ...

    ... Catedral de Santa Maria. It is an amazing edifice and the skill of the medieval craftsmen was spectacular but when I stepped inside, I got a strange feeling so I stepped outside again.
    On the other hand, the Church of St Lesmes,who is the Patron Saint of Burgos had a totally different feel and I had a prayerful time there until I realised that they had started mass...I stayed for ...

    ... downtown Burgos, window shopping and sampling the local pinchos. GP found a restaurant purportedly having the best paella in Spain, so we had to give it a go ... It was a bit disappointing but the chicken salad was absolutely amazing. Haven't really described our food experience to date but it has primarily consisted of a 'daily' pilgrim's menu for a set fee usually €10 - €15. Included is a starter dish, a main entree, dessert, wine and water. ...

    ... now routine duties of shower, wash/dry clothes, lunch, naps, blogs/journals and prep for next day. Today's prep included making reservations for the next 3 days to insure we have a place to stay after walking our targeted distance. We will begin walking across the Meseta tomorrow where weather ( sun & wind & storms) are more severe and stopping points and accommodations are limited.
