Our change of plans took us through Switzerland
... use our flight via the UK (which was going to Amman, Jordan) to get to Ireland in the middle, and then head to the Baltics. A bit of a roundabout, but it meant we would get to Switzerland, France and Luxembourg, which were never in our original plans.
And so Lucern was our first stop. We had heard it was beautiful and a "gateway to the mountains" so it seemed ...
Switzerland at its finest
We thought that we would have much more luck in Luzern in terms of our mountain climbing aspirations, with no such luck. After getting off of the train it was still pouring. We checked into our hotel and took a map and kind of wandered around for a bit. Luzern is also somewhat mellow. ... night with a couple I met at the silence retreat in Guatemala. Now, to say that I "met" them, really means that I spoke to them once... on my last day there, once the silence had been lifted. Needless to say, not being able to talk to them made it a little difficult to get to know them. Sometimes you can just tell though, when people are good. They are a very sweet couple with a really interesting perspective on life. They were married before Sensei, not in a church, and ...
