... and goats as well as various farm buildings. We travelled through the Arlberg tunnel which is 15 km long and the 4 the longest in Europe. There was snow on the side of the road and in paddocks as this was a little higher. The temp ranged from 6 to about 14 degrees but it was lovely in the sunshine. We followed the edge of a lake as we neared the major towns bypassing Zurich.

... We were told how there used to be a church and a hotel on the mountain, but the hotel burnt down many many years ago (unknown as to how, but one theory is that a man fell asleep whilst smoking) and it was too expensive to rebuild it so only the church remains standing. The majority of the tour group spent their time relaxing in the cafeteria. Monika invited us to walk up a part of the mountain with her in hopes to show us the amazing views. ... and I spotted a little Italian restaurant on the river where we enjoyed a delicious dinner of risotto ( best I've ever had) and pasta. We wandered through the city before returning to the hotel for bed. The next morning we were up early for our carriage and countryside experience. Lucky for us, the sun was shining and there was no sign of rain. This was one of my all time favourites as we were taken by horse drawn carriages through beautiful green pastures, apple orchards ...

... the bridge is unique since it contains a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, although many of them were destroyed along with most of the centuries old bridge in a 1993 fire. Subsequently restored, the Kapellbrücke is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe,as well as the world's oldest surviving truss bridge.It serves as the city's symbol and as one of Switzerland's main tourist attractions.

... and the cost was 26 Swiss francs - and we get about 75 Swiss francs for 1AUD. I purchased some Swiss postage stamps and they too were more expensive that the UK and Germany. We figured out where our meeting place was and met up with the tour director at 1.30pm. We then got on the Insight bus and headed south to Lucerne, it took about an hour.
