... three course meal consisting of cheese fondue, bratwurst sausage and grated potatoes and finished with pavlova and ice cream. A very traditional swiss meal which was very delicious.
Hoping the winds had died down, we headed back to the lift to see if we could get up the top of Mount Pilatus. The story goes...or myth....that apparently Pontius Pilate came to this mountain for personal ...
... days of our time here locked up in the hotel finishing our papers and making our presentations. I finished my paper and gave my presentation on Wednesday, which was nice to get off my back. Now I am on vacation for the next week and a half.
Our resort is on a peninsula overlooking the Adriatic Sea, which is nice, but we're all kind of eager to move on to the next section of our adventures. And it doesn't help that our ...
... the outside of the city wall. We wandered through the old town and then went to see the lion monument which was carved into a huge rock. We had lunch on a bench by the river (salami, I am so sick of salami) and then walked through the covered bridge and our tour of the town was pretty much complete. We passed a beach and some large parks on the way back to the hostel and decided that it would be a really nice town to spend ...
Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland steveandwhitney... but suggested that we didn't buy it today because the weather was supposed to be getting bad so there wouldn't be much of a view...so we decided we'd wait until tomorrow to buy the ticket. We headed back to the hostel and then decided we wanted to go see a movie. So we headed to the nearest movie theatre, where the first question I asked was 'Are the movies in English?' luckily I asked because nope they didn't show them in english...but the ...
Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland kkb-myadventure... back to Lauterbrunnen. We were using our Swiss pass that day and decided to see how much extra it would cost us to catch the cable car up to Grutschalp which was on the mountain above Lauterbrunnen. It was free with the pass, so we went up to a beautiful view over the town plus Wengen and the fog had lifted, so we had a great view of the mountain peaks. We decided to do a short hike along the path towards Murren and found ...
Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland kiama_on_tour... to the supermarket, the girl at reception had told us that there was one close by open until 6:30pm and then a bigger one a bit further on that was open until 9pm.
We found the close by one very quickly but it was really small and didn’t have enough variety for us. We did venture into the bottleshop next door though and found a 2002 Peter Lehmann Barossa Shiraz for 22 Swiss francs! That’s about $25 Australian and I was sold!
We strolled up the street and found the ...
... a connection, anyway.
Upon checking out and making our way to the parking garage, we encountered a local sitting in the stairwell, pants around ankles, getting ready to shoot up. And here we thought it was a classy hotel.
In the car, we started up Jill and exited the garage. We expected Jill to find the satellites to lead us to Munich. Parked on the ...
... and found the Schuhhause Walder AG (Zurichstr. 7, 6004 Luzern). The shoes they have for size 35 women's are ugly... they look like a 65 would wear (maybe). But they had a HUGE selection in the kids department and as I was looking for sandals, it wasn't that big of a deal. They have a huge selection and they already separate them by the sizes for you. I started at the size 33 area and worked my way up. I didn't find a pair of sandals but managed to find a pair of purple ...
Luzern, Luzern, Switzerland vivianlam... bunched all together like cows. But on the positive side of assigned seats, you don’t have to worry about where you will sit if you are late. We also had to choose between the top floor or the bottom floor, it was split in half. I asked which ticket was more expensive and took those seats. J I thought of you Sara and thought you would have laughed. They were only a dollar more.
On Tuesday, while I waited for the train, dad stepped to ...
On Wednesday, our first full day in Zurich, we saw our apartment for the first time. Our landlord met us at the hotel and then walked with us several blocks to the apartment. It was wonderful to finally see it! It was bigger and better than we had imagined.! The four rooms present a lot of living space, and in addition there is a kitchen large enough for a table. An interesting difference is the bathroom space. We are accustomed to seeing bathrooms with a tub, sink, and toilet. Here ...
