... are resting today after yesterday's efforts. Michael and Betty were looking chipper outside their hotel by the Gaudi edifice next to the sublime cathedral. I also saw one of the German girls from yesterday. She was virtually in tears because she isn't very well and all the Albergues were full when she arrived last night so she had to walk on to the outskirts of town and slept somewhere awful. She was heading back into town to find another Albergue to rest at today. ...

... to the Michellin guide map) 401 km under our belts ... 306 km to go. We're happy to have come this far but we're starting to dread the mountains ahead. Tomorrow we have another relatively flat stage to Astorga, the staging point for those cyclists doing the minimum 200 km to get your official certificate for completing the Camino. It has also been brought to our attention that from the 200 km mark, you must get at least 2 passport stamps per day to prove that you have completed the ...

Another relatively flat stage today! Our bodies and legs are starting to recover, although we're still having a tough time getting used to Spanish food. So much fried food, not much for vegetables and hard to satisfy our need for enough protein. We've had very tasty dishes and so so meals. Wine is very inexpensive here, cheaper than beer. Cocktails are very expensive, if available. We're staying at the Parador in Leon. This was one of the carrots for the ...
