Into the bush

... and down a dirt track that became more and more sandy until the smallfry Nissan could go no further. I opened the car door, stepped out of the A/C, into the oppressive heat and harsh sunlight and trudged through the bone dry, deepening sand in my flip-flops. As I came up over the bluff, I began to hear a growing noise of the waves. The moment I saw the totally deserted beach I understood that the advice we had been given was valid. This was no ...

All good things must come to an end...

If a trashed car is a good indication of a successful day trip, we qualify! Nice drive home ( have the best guide in Baja), lots of oohs and ahs and LOTS of cows. How many is too many? Note: all photos taken from car window – a few chopped heads.

And I'm sure we'll sleep sound tonight...

"Is this where we should stop? Looks like we can get down here… no, let’s keep going." This proceeded till we found ‘it’. Wow. Snorkeling trip, but first breakfast...

... the 'best snorkeling in Cabo' could be found about 4 beaches/4km down the dusty road. The smaller coves would also provide protection from the wind.

But first, a stroll down this beach. We grabbed a couple of beers and after passing the first group of beach goers, we found the stretch deserted. The farther we walked, the more coral we found washed up on the shore.
After 10 minutes of walking and still, no others, I got the ...

Playa Los Cerritos, Ceviche & Carnitas

After leaving Art & Beer, we drove down a dirt road that headed towards the beach. We first walked along the rocks on the near end of the beach, checking out the tide pools and taking in the huge waves out on the farthest rocks. We then walked the beach some and played with Tanka. "Los Cerritos Beach Club" looks like it might be a fun place, with live music on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. While Tanka dried off, we popped the trunk and ...

Paradise, at last

... morning we woke up to more rain. Jonesey was not pleased. So, we jumped in Ruby and kept heading south. The next part of the drive was actually pretty cool as we went through a protected area called Valle de Los Cirios. Cirios are these tall, lanky, Dr. Seuss-looking cactus that covered the landscape. This is one of the only places they grow and they are so cool...and weird. It was also neat to see the desert in the rain. Everything was green and blooming ...

The VW wait

We scooted down to La Paz as quickly as possible so that Rogelio at GeraldoVW could order parts for ailing Eve if necessary. On arriving Friday, we found that his shop was closed for Christmas (!) until Monday 08 January. Oh well, it was time for a break, so we stayed at Casa Blanca RV Park for 3 nights waiting. On Monday ...

La Paz back to Cabo San Lucas

... highway. They stopped and walked over to it, but when they started to open the cab door (the cab was 3/4 upside down in the ditch) there was commotion coming from inside the sleeping compartment - it seemed the driver had decided that there was nothing he could do at that hour of the night, so he just made himself a bed in the (upside down)sleeping compartment and went to sleep! No lights, no flares, no nothing. They then had to backtrack about 1/2 mile to find a place where they ...
