... within maybe 50 metres of the train was just a green blur. Farm houses a kilometre away just zipped by. It was an awesome and exhillarating way to travel.
Unfortunately our speed was not great enough. We fell farther and farther behind schedule, until we arrived in Brussels 40 minutes late. We missed our connection to the Eurostar train that was to take us under the English Channel. Then, we got a bit of a run-around as to how to get on the the ...

... Daryl said to me that "I fought up this way through the town and when the battle ended I ended up in this park. Over on this intersection was a German 88mm gun that kept us occupied until it was taken out." Holy Cow! He was here crawling through a slit trench ducking an 88mm. Holy Cow! Amazing.

After we left the park, we headed out of town to the Grave Bridge. This bridge was used by Allied troops as a main way to get heavy armor ...

... honorarium of 25 Euros. Never one to hoard her good fortune, Ilene picked up the phone and texted me an invitation to be her featured guest on her own Featured Guest Artist show. When I called her back she explained that she had a brilliant new living situation where I would have a place to sleep for the night, there was the promise of a free meal (always music to a poet's ears) and she would turn over her entire ¢25 stipend to cover my ...

... in the Bayeux train station until 2:30pm for a train to Pontorson. From there I caught a bus out to Mont St Michel. By the time I got there, it was close to sunset...pictures still look alright though. It's really cool looking, but is smaller than I expected. There's one main cobblestoned street up through town to the abbey. It's all lit up at night too. Mont St Michel I had hoped to go biking around the Loire ...
