... into a hostel and headed into the city centre for a look around and some food. Trujillo is the 3rd largest city in Peru and was the first city that the conquistadors arrived at when hitting Peru. Again the city has an amazing town square with beautiful historical buildings and a massive catherdral surrounding the centre. The main reason for coming to Trujillo is to see the many archaeological sites scattered ...
Trujillo, Peru eugenecash... of sand bricks some 500 to 1,800 yeas ago!!!! We heard many stories about human sacrifice and it makes you think our this culture killed huge numbers of it´s own people in an attempt to please their gods, although it was eventually nature and mainly the weather that drove these people from their homes!!!
We have another night bus to Lima tonight and it´s sad to think that this is nearly the end of the first stage of our tour...

... as if it were all a hilarious situation. But it isn't. These people have nothing. I was quite shocked about how some of the citty-type Peruvians were treating them. My faith was restored slightly by seeing some of them giving some money to other people stationed around the tourist route, as presumably those near the end receive less money than those at the start. But still, it's a grim situation.
So, after that doom and gloom, I shall sign off.

... pm, I proceeded to walk 200 ft from the bus terminal to buy a hamburger and was warned by several people to not go walking about by myself. Later, while walking an extra 500 ft to a busy bus stop, I had a friendly woman worrying up one side and down the other for me. She asked if I was scared, suggesting I should be, and I was a little, but the registered taxi drivers at the station seemed to think I'd be ok on a bus to the airport at 7 pm, and it turns out I was. I'll say this, though, it ...

However, after two mind numbingly boring days stuck in Huanchaco, the strike was lifted. I don´t know if they resolved the dispute; they´ll probably have another strike in a week or so over something else (by which point I hope to be well and truly out of the country).
So, on again went the backpack as I headed back down towards the capital.
Lima was pretty much how I remember it being but I did go ...
... was completely blocked. Bollocks. After we slowly made a U-turn, I peeked back out of my curtain towards the road block to see the surreal and eery sight of a man dressed in an orange jumpsuit, sinister skeleton mask and yellow hard hat, waving a flag slowly in the harsh morning light.
We crawled defeatedly back to the terminal. On arrival, me and Nicki joined a queue of anxious passengers to find out what on earth we were supposed to do. We discovered that we could swap ...

Huanchaco, Peru ramblingroisin... buildings are very detailed in the designs and it was well worth a look. We drove to the seaside town of Huanchaco and had lunch at a restaurant called Big Ben. It was located on a 3rd floor balcony overlooking the beach. I tried a traditional Peruvian dish called Cebiches - which is marinated pieces of raw fish with lemon. I also had the calamari with the fish. It was very tasty. Had a walk along the beach. There were lots of the ...
Trujillo, Peru sarah.nicholls... daily product is purchased in its entirety by Leche Gloria for the making of evaporated milk, which most Peruvians prefer to fresh pasteurized milk. Trujillo, Peru mmbcross... touristique!
