... a rest stop North of Laredo and had a small lunch and rested up. Sue drove 2+ hours and I took over before Laredo and was happy for a brief rest and lunch. Sue found a campground about and hour and a half up the road and we made a reservation for $25. We arrived about 5:30 and the park is OK but filled with oil and gas workers. I had to ask the guy next door to turn down the music which he did and all is well. ...

Lots of new places in San Carlos since we were here two years ago. We walked on Algadonas beach by Soggy Pesos yesterday afternoon and found lots of activity. La Salsa, Sunset Diner, La Dunes, Cotton Club are all attracting diners and beach goers. We had a drink and watched the sunset, a beautiful orange sky. This morning I picked up Ann for Zumba. This part of the country is pretty built up, particularly Fredericksburg further West, which is surprisingly German, and Kerrville with a long stretch of homes and ...

... from door knocking I dropped the lid on the camper and we drove down into the Monument Valley itself. We went to sleep with the shadow of one of the monuments being close enough to block out the stars. With a 4am start, Gael was rewarded with some great sunrise photo opportunities.

Our last stop in this part of the American West was to Mesa Verde to view the ancient Indian cliff dwellings. Amazing the extent they went too to live securely from would be intruders.
