... we found a lovely bike path that ran almost all then way to the cenote. The last 1.5kms was a dirt track and still not being completely sure if we were even going down the right road, the sign for the cenote finally appeared. We were so relieved!! There was three cenotes at this particular spot. A guide took us in with helmets, flashlights and a snorkel set. Each of the cenotes were incredible. Despite still be inside caves the entrance to these we're not ...
... and snorkel in Two of the holes and walked through a cave at the third location.
After a quick snack we jumped back in the van and went to Akumel Bay to swim with the turtles. We saw several turtles and enjoyed the sunny afternoon. Unfortunately this is an extremely popular sight and the waters were pretty murky so it was hard to see any distance.
We returned to our resort and decided to try the Italian restaurant on ...
... snack bar and whilst we were there saw loads if the local badgers running around they were so cute one baby even came in the restaurant!! It's a shame they are so unafraid of humans as they will probably end up taking food and then being chased away. In the evening we had booked into the Mexican restaurant a fantastic 3 course meal and all free!! I could live here forever ...
... and reef just off the beach. We spent a great day there relaxing under the palm trees and snorkelling with the friendly turtles and stingrays that live about 50m from the shore. Next weekend we will venture down to the ruins and cenotes of Tulum. We also have to work out our own art project to make with the children for an hour each day over the next month...any ideas would be warmly received. Missing everyone back home! Jim and Sian ...
