      Not much of an exploration

      11/11 Corfu

We left the ship late and spent some time using the Port's free wifi. We were heading to the bus stop to take a bus into town when we ran into an enterprising taxi driver. He was waiting at the bus stop instead of in the line of taxis looking for €100 fares to tour the island. He offered us a €10 trip to the historic district and the same back. We found ...

      ... tops.

Ed wasn’t too happy with this snafu, unlike me. I was happy to see bright lights, people having a good time, and something other than the port area and everything closed. For the 2nd day I tried to get a early start, but really didn’t get out until 10am. The guy at the ship warned me that it was acqua alta, high tides. We’d been informed that the islands flood at high tide, and I could see it from the boat. I ...

We have the opportunity on this cruise to spend one more day in Greece. This time it is the island of Corfu. The weather is hot and sunny and although not planned, we decided to bring the bikes out and go for a ride in Greece. Anyone who has driven or walked in Greece knows that this decision was not taken lightly as the drivers are a bit crazy. However, it was Sunday and we have found that wherever we have been in Europe the traffic has been very light ...

We arrived in Corfu in quite heavy rain. We had organized a hire car for €43 which was very reasonable, and decided we would continue on with our plans. We drove to Paleokastritsa Bay which would have been beautiful on a nice day with a very rugged coastline and beaches. There was a monastery that we walked to with raincoats and umbrellas and viewed the inside of the church. Greek churches have flat ceilings and are decorated ...

Day 46 - Corfu Greek Island

Day 46 - Corfu Greek Island
This morning we were up early to participate in a behind the scenes ship tour we signed up for. There was only room for a maximum of 40 passengers. The cost of the tour was about 35pp. Toby had complained about having to pay to tour the ship. On the P&O it is free. Anyway I wanted to do it so i signed us up. This morning we both reluctantly rolled out of bed and met the tour group at the theatre. We learnt about the ...
