... some lunch. We wanted plain old bratwursts but it seems Berlin has this curious wurst known as a curry wurst. The smell alone put us off but it seems very popular. Hamburgers to the rescue for us. Fed and watered, we set off to the Pergamon. The hour long wait estimate turned out to be very accurate -- most likely due to the metered intake being overriden by large tour groups getting in before us. ... around. So.... On our way back we stopped at the very impressive, Haut Koenigsbourg, just north of Colmar in Alsace. It was a large medieval castle ruins restored and rebuilt by Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1905. Going from Colmar to the "King's Castle" felt like journeying from Belle's village to the Beast's castle on the mountain. Sometimes you get bonus perks, as I did - Claudia sings in a local choir and so off we went for her Tuesday evening rehearsal in a nearby church and I got to sit in on as they practised parts of Bach's Christmas Oratorio. ... comfortable. There is a Lidl down the street so we got lots of groceries. Because we have a kitchen were going to try and cook most of our meals rather then eat out. Czech Republic is part of the European Union but hasn't converted to the euro, they use the czech crown. 1 Canadian dollar is worth 20 czech crowns.
