... Sugar Loaf Islands', (named because they look like the Sugar Loaf in Rio) and a modern sculpture called the 'Wind Wand'. This 50 foot high, thick fibreglass rod bends in the wind (what a surprise!). I have noticed that there is more modern sculpture in the North Island. On the drive from Rotorua to Lake Taupo we stumbled across another one of those unexpected little gems. This time it was Huka Falls. It was beautiful, but very dangerous. The flow at the bottom of the falls is unusually strong. If you fell over the falls you wouldn't come out. The swell would keep you under water, just going round and round.
