Halfway!

... of all my friends messages from hot climates. Although it is warming up here, bristow if your reading this im jelous :P However the rain returned today which was a shame cus its been such a beautiful weekend. So beautiful i got sunburn both days, even though its only just warm enough to lose the jumper and don a tshirt now. On saturday went on a boat trip with "chellys charters", a cheery old man with an old english lifeboat dated back to 1951, who took us round the ...

See the Tasman Sea

... like we are possibly on a wild goose chase only to come upon this little piece of heaven tucked back off the road and right by the sea. There are only 3 cottages here and we have the one furthest from the main house with our own private view of the sea and, I am not kidding about this next part...this morning, the birds woke me up singing. It is that quiet and peaceful here. Magically beautiful. The perfect way to end our trip before we head toward the big ...

... Sugar Loaf Islands', (named because they look like the Sugar Loaf in Rio) and a modern sculpture called the 'Wind Wand'. This 50 foot high, thick fibreglass rod bends in the wind (what a surprise!). I have noticed that there is more modern sculpture in the North Island. Whether this is because they are more affluent than the South or because they are more artistically developed, I don't know. Maybe I need more exposure to this art form to enable my limited appreciation to develop more!

Catching Up

... I ignored her at first, and then of course she asked again and I did not know what to say, so I just told her "I don't know", and that is why the video is funny... i am NOT a creep who likes money porn. So, in all the zoo was a good experience. That following week, it was st. patty's day which was a little difficult to celebrate due to the fact that there are 2 Irish pubs in Hamilton and they were the only places open on a Monday night. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I ...

... lacking in the church. 2. Backpackers: I met many Europeans (girl/guy) who're addicted to drinking & smoking pots - i think so, it's my first time seeing them doing it, rolling dried leaves. I don't see people smoking cigarettes here. 3. The name Jesus: I'm so sad to hear the name of Jesus used in vain several times - by a backpacker, the owner of a hostel, a fruit seller. I was thinking probably the next time I hear it from someone, I'll ...

Mordor's Mt Doom and the Forgotten Highway

On the drive from Rotorua to Lake Taupo we stumbled across another one of those unexpected little gems. This time it was Huka Falls. It was beautiful, but very dangerous. The flow at the bottom of the falls is unusually strong. If you fell over the falls you wouldn't come out. The swell would keep you under water, just going round and round. Definitely a place to watch your step. We both liked Lake Taupo. The lake is beautiful and the town built around it is very well done ...

The Ascent of Mt Taranaki

... I was disappointed that I didn't really have a view of anything at this stage because the clouds were almost covering us, but I was assured that I would get a view in time. We'd been going for almost 5hrs by this stage and I was beginning to wonder if we'd ever reach the top! It was getting very difficult to navigate and we made progress very slowly, having often to go down before we could go up. We then reached what appeared to be a vertical ...
