... the ground, 70m total. The temperature was constant in the caves year round, cold enough to keep food refrigerator style. There were only two or three other groups in there at the same time, but our guide told me that in high season it can be pretty difficult to get through it all with a group. Also something that would make a claustrophobic cringe.

After the underground city we took an hour hike through a huge gorge, much like the ...

Cappadocia, Turkey krusty01... they brought us almost to our destination and let us sleep in their bottom bunk, and the fat creepy one remained super creepy, Savannah Couldn't sleep.

then we walked through this little town and got surrounded by little boys asking us for money and that was actually the scariest thing that has happened to us they were really mean and Raina wanted to spank them or punch them or something then we were rescued by some boys who drove us a ways ...
Cappadocia, Tukey, Turkey sg2oo3... enemies. Being stuck with 4,999 of your close and not-so-close friends in dark, tight spaces with narrow tunnels, shallow air, and bathrooms that consisted of using your own personal clay pot make me greatly appreciate personal space...and good hygiene. I feel very lucky that I've felt safe with a mere turn of the lock on a door. How interesting that an action that I've always taken for granted is now something I hold so dear.

Cappadocia, Turkey nelsonduo... about how boring the Aussie landscape is...you can only be an Aussie and talk about how boring the Aussie landscape is.

Lesson learned. Haha.

Jeremy, Kristen, and I had a good laugh about that on the way back to our hostel. We didn't finish the cake, though we did make Phoenix finish her enormous piece, despite her protests, and we put it in the fridge at the hostel with a plan to meet up the next day and finish it at Fat Boys...Yes, we were planning a BYO ...
Goreme, Cappadocia, Turkey jimmyandkristen... on the 23rd of May instead of the 31st. An Email to Dorotea, our wonderful travel agent at Blossom Valley Travel, and the change is made-we are impressed. Sad to leave Turkey early, but glad to be back among family and friends, and tacos and carne asada, and Sophia's beans and salsa. So, back to the morning of the 16th, we roll our suitcases to the new hotel as they had agreed to hold them for us until our return. The night ...
Cappadocia, Turkey juanitobosque... is also know for its Asthma curing caves and of course we wanted to try one out. You have to go to a nearby village called Narlikuyu where all the good fish restaurants are located around a small cove. So we had grilled shrimps first and felt we could tackle the Caves of Heaven and Hell! (Cennet ve Cehennum). Apparently there is an underground river that connects to the Styx, which you need to cross to pass to the underworld (Hades). Jasper and Sander had ...
Alanya, Turkish Mediterranean Coast, Turkey robertandtanja... It would be an understatement to say that South East Turkey (Can I call it Kurdistan?) is not quite a tourist Mecca due in large part to a protracted war between the PKK and the Turkish Government during the 80's and 90's. But things are evidently changing. We feel lucky to have come through this part of the world in a little window of time between war and a new age of consolidation. More on Cappadocia soon!
Goreme, Cappadocia, Turkey bird_dream... cubic cave. Our beds rested on stone slabs. The bathroom was at least modern, except there was no shower- just a bucket and a hose. Well, it's all part of the experience, right? We ate dinner at some local restaurant that is not really worth mentioning or remembering. LP that I borrowed from my friend Manny said that Pacha Bar is the place to "get your rocks off", so we checked it out. The place looked cool, but alas, it was ...
Goreme, Cappadocia, Turkey sojanet... and canada, whether turkey is european or not and how a lot of turks smoke weed. it was an interesting hour or so. anyway, last night i caught an overnight bus from istanbul to goreme, which is in the region of capadocia. on the bus i met a bunch of canadians, and we seem to be staying at the same hostel. we arrived here at around 8.30am after about 11hrs on the bus, and i headed out with a recently married couple who live ...
