They hatch in September and then leave for Africa, but one of the fisherman (who was also selling blue crab meals from his boat at the mouth of the river) was able to bring "Sultan", a 100 year old loggerhead turtle to the surface by feeding him the blue crab. Sultan stays around all year, as do a few of the other turtles, so we were able to see him up close and get some pictures of him. Island hopping from Turkey to Greece
Being the end of the season we could not go to Crete Island directly, hence our first boat which was only an hour mind you was from Marmaris to Rhode Island, Greece. Now unfortunately our Eurail pass was not valid in Turkey so we were paying for all our transport. Being an international ferry, for only an hour on the boat it cost 45.00 euro each - little we could do about it however!
