... Intrepid people. It was overcast, as we're all getting use to these days, and then the sun broke through, glorious sunlight!! It made our free day that much more wonderful and it seemed sometimes like I was surrounded by bugs; snails, catapillers, spiders and some I can't name. I loved it. I even got a chance to pee in the forest.

... have different gauges; During WW2 Stalin didn’t want Hitler to be able to roll trainloads of German soldiers, tanks and heavy artillery into Soviet territory as he had in other countries. To combat this Stalin simply installed a different gauge so that Hitler’s trains couldn’t run on them. The train from Seskotai to Warsaw was incredibly clean both inside and out.

... This bizarre turn of events meant we spent the evening down by the lakeside, in Virginia's completely empty summer house. They are doing it up, so the only things inside it are a few tools and some unused, newly bought appliances. The water and electricity worked, so we blew up out airbeds in the empty rooms and went for a walk round the lake with a gorgeous sunset.

That is serendipity.
