Two Show Day
Woke up to cloudy skies and light rain falling. The weather has not been sunny since we got here, but it hasn't stopped us from moving around the city and taking in the sights we wanted to. We are carrying around our umbrellas more than I have before, but the trip is going great.
Made breakfast really simple and grabbed a pastry and juice …
Godspell Day
Early morning - out the door before 9 am and over to McDonald's for breakfast. Filled our bellies nicely, then it was off to the Times Square Subway Station to head south to the 9/11 Memorial Site. Subway, I have missed you - yes, I said it, I don't mind the subway and it got us to the south end (Rector Street) in record time, which beats walking. …

Hotel has great location but unfortunately the room was way to hot due to an old radiator type heater which was either boiling or freezing. No hot water. Most of the lights in the room didn't work. Other than that all good.

Hotel Edison was in a very prime location. It was approximately 30 steps to Times Square and close to many other tourist destinations in NYC. The room was very clean and comfortable, but was small and very dated. The bathroom was even smaller. The bathroom was so small that I could use the bathroom and brush my teeth at the same time. Hotel Edison is a good place to rest your head for a few hours before heading out and exploring the city. I went with the best and cheapest deal on Expedia when booking this room. I would stay there again, because of the location and the money saved. However, if there was a better deal at a different hotel, I would give it a try because you can get to any location in NYC by the subway, which only cost $2.50 to ride.

Hotellet vi bodde på var ok, inte mkt mer. Men å andra sidan var det ju billigt och enormt centralt. Dock hade jag i efterhand velat bo mer ned mot West Village där det var riktigt mysigt!

Historical Traveler Reviews Edison Hotel Times Square New York City
If You Love Broadway, You Can't Beat the Location
Right off Broadway, you can walk to all shows! Great for the theatre and restaurants! Rooms are small, but who wants to stay in? Not us; we stayed in March 2003. Rates were reasonable; had the combo room that sleeps 4 adults. Service was excellent; staff tried hard to please. Doorman was great help with taxis and making sure we did not get ripped off. GREAT coffee shop downstairs; best prices and good food. Would recommend and consider staying there again.
Grate Place to Stay
Having scanned numrous websites and reviews found the Edison purely by chance at the last minute. Ended up being an excellent move. My sister and I were in NY for 6 days during the blizzard, chaos on the streets but this hotel was so central we could literally walk most places. the location is right off Times Square. The lobby is a bit old fashioned but the room was really good with a double bed each even though only expected singles at best!!!! Would definitely stay there again if or should I say when I go back.
Felt Like a Prison
I stayed here in 1996 at the start of a month long trip to the USA. The room doors had about 4 locks on them and had grooves on the outside as if someone had tried to force an entry into the room on many occasions, very scary. The room felt like a prison cell!!!
What a Location
We stayed in the Edison in 2001 in January and were really pleased with the location...right off Times Square and in easy walking distance of some good restaurants. Hotel is busy and the rooms were small but clean, altho stifling hot...heating way too high. Breakfast in their diner was great and good value for money. Some Reception staff not very helpful as I lost my safetybox key and one of the Receptionists wanted to immediately charge me the $50 cost of replacing key but another Receptionist took the time to ask Security who had in fact found it! So steer clear of the young male Receptionists.
A great place to stay.
Stayed there for two nights Spring of 2002 and have reservations for another two nights in Spring 2003. Very clean, comfortable and extremely convenient.
Great Location
First time in NY, location was the best. Will definately stay there on my next visit.
A must see
this is the best hoaltal i have every stayed at i recomened this to all coming to newyork for the holidays
Great Price; Great Place
If you're in NY for the plays, you can't beat the Edison. TKTS booth is just yards from front door. Theatres are mere blocks (and some not even blocks). Lots of good restaurants and delis nearby. Very efficient staff (rooms are cleaned faster than any hotel I've ever stayed in), and you can't beat the restaurant for breakfast. Rooms are small but very nice with the best water pressure from any shower I've ever had. Request extra pillows. .... We stayed four nights and had a wonderful experience.
Location, Location, Location!!!!!
Don't tell too many people about this fantastic hotel right in the middle of it all!! Sure, it's old - you can tell by the plumbing in the bath - but it's clean. The lobby is nice - designed by the same architect as Radio City Music Hall - it is elegant with it's beautiful marble and magnificient chandeliers. But the very best part is that you can literally walk out the front or the back doors of the hotel and walk straight across the street into several theatres. It is 1/2 block from the tickets booth and just 1 1/2 blocks from Lindy's and Joe's Steakhouse. It is reasonably priced by New York city standards. Spent a few days there in July and thoroughly enjoyed the accommodations and the friendly and helpful staff.
Edison Hotel
An ideal location to tour this magnificent city with good surrounding eateries. We felt very safe walking around this area at night. The room was clean as was the bathroom, but unfortunately a double room is very small. If you are a larger couple sharing a room you may find it constrictive. Some of the staff could brush up on their manners, but all in all, good.
