We are visiting the UK and Norway at the end of May and first part of June in 2010. I have never been to Europe and am very excited about it.
Our daughter has been attending Kingston University this past year so we are going to see her, travel and pack her up to come home. We have family in Stavanger so we don't need hotels and ...
... is screaming for mercy. Found some very nice cookies though, yum!
Time for some wandering! We didn't hit the Royal Mile unfortunately, but we did get a good wander up and down Princes Street. Waiting around in Pizza Hut for some food, just having a general laugh.. who needs to be touristy when you get the full-on local effect?
And the best part was.. SNOW! Very random and very light, but it was there :)

Fun trip to Murrayfield for Scotland v Fiji.....lots of happy Scottish faces after the win, boys in fancydress, stag parties galore, chuc-chucs ferrying folks home in the rain, great cocktails in an Italian Jazz bar and running to catch last train back home on a busy busy Saturday night train heading South.

A day of frolicking with faeries and fearing the phantoms...
This morning I spent a delightful time with a little faerie named Eryn. We flitted around together preparing magical faerie cakes with pink and purple icing sprinkles with faerie dust, madly preparing for the great gathering. Much work needed to be done: dusting, decorating, setting the table, picking sweet peas. But all was a success when the faeries arrived and feasted ...
... I really recommend to thise going travelling. They went through all my options. I told them that I wanted to spend a couple days in Singapore before flying to New Zealand and they were able to organise that for me. As it turned out there was a stop over in Sydney, Australia so I decided to spend a couple days there to and the flight were only an extra £50. The next thing was to apply for ...

After 5 hours of walking I went back to the hostel. My feet were killing me. I chatted with Nick on MSN for a while. Then planned, more or less, the rest of my trip back to Frankfurt and figured out which ferries I'll be taking to get back to Britain from Ireland and then from Britain to France. I wasn't sure when I would have ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom cobra1899SATURDAY, 18th November We took the bus into town and walked along the Royal Mile...at least the part we missed the first time. At the end was the ultra modern Scottish Parliament opposite which was the ultra old Holyrood House...a home from home for the royals when in Scotland. It cost of course but we had arranged to meet J and H there. The ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom brianc... week. Been good to see Anne again, she is busy with her dissertation so I generally go off during the day to explore while she labours away on her big paper. I took a day trip up to the famous Stirling, about an hour by train, to see Stirling Castle and the William Wallace monument. Again both are on massive hills that dominate the skyline, but are on opposite sides of the town so it was a day filled with walking. Stirling castle ...

After a post-show pint, I walked up the Royal Mile to the hostel, only to see and hear the Scottish tattoo exiting from the castle, bagpipes blaring and kilts flaring. Stepping into my hostel, I overheard the girl at the desk welcoming a new guest; "Right, welcome to the Castle Rock. You're in the Underwear room. Your bed is called Panties ...
