Luxury outside of Wanaka town limits

Beautiful views of Lake Wanaka. Comfortable, apartment style hotel rooms complete with kitchen, lounge and bedroom. On the first floor, we walked out to manicured lawns and a perfect view of the Lake. The restaurant on site is fabulous. One mile from town along the lakeside path.

Lovely first floor suite with views across the lake and mountains. Dinner in the restaurant was lamb (for Karen) and steak for me, accompanied by very nice couple of reds (Merlot for Karen, Pinot Noir for me). Jess, our waitress was great and very chatty.

Mom had been on a desperate hunt for my biking shorts that said "New Zealand" on them. I had picked mine up in Hanmer Springs, but we …

... to the meeting point for the bus. Before I knew it I was on the bus headed towards the Nevis swing. The drive up the mountain was scary enough for me, and then when we reached the top; I was terrified. We were weighed in and were ready to go. We walked on this bridge which was about a foot wide over the canyon towards the base where we would be swinging. They quickly started strapping us in while we watched other people plummet to their deaths, (that's what ...

... shots taken before getting on the boat, with Stuart saying ”were not buying it” through a big smile. We didn’t but judging by the amount of people clutching plastic bags at the end of the trip, everyone else did.

These boats were designed over here and this was the original set up. They are designed to travel fast over very shallow water and do 360 spins while negotiating the tight canyon walls, all set up for a thrilling ride then. Well not ...
