All week the weather forecast called for 50 degrees and heavy rain/thunderstorms during the race. Thankfully, I was prepared. We stayed at the Marriott in downtown Louisville, which made things super easy. Race start time was at 7:30 AM and I woke up at 6:45, threw on my race clothes, and walked out the door.

Somehow we managed to visit Old Louisville (beautiful Victorian homes from the 1800s), the Louisville Slugger Museum (where they make the bats), and Churchill Downs. The latter was amazing - the Derby is next weekend so there was activity everywhere getting ready for this historic race. I even tried on a big floppy Derby hat in the gift shop!
