... right off there. If you get bored you jump out and sun it up on the jetty or get back on the boat, unlke at Cairns where you're dumped on an insland and left till the boat comes back for you hours later. This trip included a glass bottom boat tour and walking tour of Lady Musgrove ISland as well. It was great.
Agnes Water, Queensland, Australia stevewadeToday we checked out of our room and checked into a separate day room where we left our bags and could grab a shower after the beach as we weren't catching the bus til after 9pm. After this we headed into town to get some breakfast and I wanted to hire a board for a few more hours practice. So after a belly full of scrambled eggs we headed to the beach. The girl in the shop mentioned something to us as I was hiring the board and she could have been speaking Chinese for all we ...
Agnes Water, Queensland, Australia gaz-ljJust a quick update today to say that we've arrived safely in Agnes Waters or commonly known as 1770. This is because some bloke called Lieutenant James Cook landed here in funnily enough 1770. We arrived under the cover of darkness so can't really comment on the town yet but the hostel seems really nice. The drive in was uneventful which is great and on one of the few times I could tear myself away from my book it looked like the bus was driving through ...

Later on our journey we were confronted by a car careering down the road with its lights flashing indicating a wide load. We've seen these before and didn't pay much attention until it came into view and we quickly pulled over, the load was almost as wide as the whole of the road!

... Roundhill Creek, but the Aussies decided to rename it something a little more obvious.
Anyway ridiculous names aside this place is great and I’m really having to force myself to leave here today, the temptation to stay is overwhelming. If only I’d found this place before Mooloolaba hey! There’s only about 3600 people living in the area, so everyone knows everyone, but it’s so friendly. I’m staying at Southern Cross and am relieved to have finally found ...
... called Rockhampton which is a 6 hour drive from the Whitsundays. We stayed in a caravan park which was on the Fitzroy River (which is full of crocodiles!!!). It is safe to say that we were the only people under the age of 65 on the whole site. Quieten down time was at 7pm when the gates got locked!!! Rockhampton was a great place to chill though and last night we went out and saw a comet colliding with the atmosphere.

... discovey of new towns is now over :( but we are now going to places that we know and love before we get home.
These 2 towns are magic and as the name suggests - 1770 was the year that the town was officially discovered, making it one of the first towns discovered in Qld. There isnt much here and we headed into the caravan parks (there are 3 here) and was told there were no sites - again! Cant believe how busy it is on the Qld Coast ...

This is a wonderful town! Hostel has such a welcoming atmosphere. Last night, there was a candle-lit Mexican dinner followed by a huge bonfire. Girls, I spoke to a british engineer, Alex, at the bonfire last night, and was astounded to hear that they don't wear the Iron Ring! For shame, for shame!
Going on a walking tour of this little town soon, then lazing on the beach with my hostel buddies. Then, doing the sunset kayak ...
... down the road accessed also via the beach - he is well fed and healthy so we are not worried about him any more. There is a golf club at Agnes Water and we managed to do 9 holes the other day. Sally did the first par 3 hole in 5 and then went downhill from there losing 3 balls along the way! Steve had a terrible first hole and then made some fantastic shots being under par on one hole. So, varied results but a lovely course. Many 'grey nomads' had informed us ...
Seventeen Seventy, Queensland, Australia steveandsallyWe left Burrum Heads on Friday am. After a bumpy drive we arrived in 1770. It is a 5min drive from Agnes Waters. Stacy visited here 20 yrs ago with Fliss and it was a tiny town with a dirt track from Agnes. It is still small but is being developed with new estates and an amazing boardwalk and park under construction. We got a great site right on the water front. Having an open fire was a great treat. We ...
