Enjoy the natural beauty of the Swiss Alps with our free day in picturesque Zermatt. We will experience the Klein Matterhorn where the views across the mountain peaks are spectacular. Thank heavens we did not have an early start as Phil has been has been sick since early this morning, so Barbara and Karen went with our travelling companions to the Matterhorn. We travelled on two gondolas to get to the top of the mountain. The first gondola held a maximum of six people, ...

We left our hotel after a nice breakfast in house and headed for the Simplonpass which took us from Switzerland to Italy through the Swiss/ Italian Alps. ... onto the piste sitting too far back and fell in the next turn. I then slid down the slope for probably 100m. It was in slow motion, I was travelling slowly and tried to dig in my elbows but nothing was working Finally I managed to turn my skis to below me and roll onto an edge. I managed to roll onto my skis and I stood up and continued down. ...

Once the shock has died down, JJ was more concerned about the fact that his coat has been damaged in the incident.
We headed down the slope as we were planning to have a break anyway. At the bottom of this run is the entrance to the terrain park, and JJ was keen to be filmed by me as he went through the jumps. The incident did not knock his skiing confidence!
The morning had been one of our longer excursions without ...

... restaurant on the hill and plan for a chocolate break. This descent was in sunshine on groomed slopes which had seen little traffic. The total vertical descent was going to be about 800m and until we reached the top of the six man chair we only saw a couple of others on the run. We decided to take the run to the bottom of the chair as it seemed a good way to extend the run.

JJ’s turns had come on massively as he started to use body motion down the hill ...
