A gem still to be explored another day.

Another early start for the 40nm passage to Elba. After the last 2 days the sea was as smooth as velvet to begin and with only a slight increase later we happily motorsailed all the way in calm waters. We had lunch in a trattoria on the piazza anfiteatro - both of us chose to have soup (the rain, I guess) - and an opportunity to have zuppa frantoiana, or ribollita, as it's called in Florence - basically, it's vegetable soup, with bread soaked in it so that it thickens - a really hearty meal, to which you add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and season to your taste. We drove to a tiny village called SASSETTA. It is an incredibly picturesque medieval village literally "clinging" on a rock. The bush or "woods" are mysterious ...

... in circles to indicate a big bowl and using my thumb and finger I attempted to define the muscles in the bowl, all the while pointing to the other table. Steve is in hysterics as he can see we are getting nowhere. The lady probably thought I was having an epileptic fit, I thought I was doing a reasonable job of muscles in a bowl charades. No no no and shaking her head stands there tapping her notepad. So I try the charades again and she looks desperately at Steve. She goes ...
