    ... I will not name.

We had set off up the lane behind our apartment to walk to the street of palaces on the hill, where we were to visit three of them. We came upon a small square which we recognised as somewhere we had tried to get a drink yesterday but given up and walked on, after about 10 futile minutes.

We found ourselves in Genoa today. We did a hop on hop off double decker bus ride. We found out this is where Christopher Columbus is from and saw many monuments for him and his house!

But on the last day of April, there were two other small groups eating lunch and the water taxi brought a crowd of school children to see the Abbey only as we were leaving. We ...

... back with proud salt of the earth, stoic faces. They certainly couldn't have picked a better place to put their soul to rest.

I've already gone on longer than normal in this post but still haven't covered what I wanted to say about how much I absolutely loved Portafino. It has been my absolute highlight of the trip so far. Just the sheer natural beauty of the place made me feel very content. I must have spent three hours just wandering ...
