... Alps and the Apennines. Longitudinally it extends from the border with France and the French Riviera (or Côte d'Azur) near Ventimiglia (a former customs post) to Capo Corvo (also known as Punta Bianca) which marks the Eastern end of the Gulf of La Spezia and is close to the border with Tuscany. We didn't want to leave Portofino, it has an ambience and a quiet sophistication about it, reminds me a lot of St Tropez but is not as pretentious as St Tropez, no big super yachts in the marina etc. Time to head home to Fifi so off we went, traversing the winding coastal road and back on to the train heading for Sestri Levante. Really weird thing though, for those of you who ...

... dinner. We were all picked up at the hotel and taken up the mountain to a small restaurant in a little village. The ride up the mountain was a bit unnerving but all worth it. We were joined by a couple from New Jersey and some folks from Spokane(small world) We enjoyed a great meal, got to bed about 11:30 , bus leaves at 8am. I'm feeling much better, looking forward to Cinque ...
