And then we just spent a few hours walking around the town and the bay. This is another boating town, albeit much larger than Rovinj. All the tour boats are closed up for the season or undergoing repairs. We ate a cheap and delicious lunch at the Marina and had a great view on the water of the blue Adriatic, the amphitheater, and hundreds of moored yachts. The house wine was a yummy ...

Tomorrow, we have a travel day. We set out at 4:40 am and will transfer buses at Rijeka. From there we will go to Zadar, another lovely city down the Dalmatian coast. We plan on spending a couple of weeks exploring this coast. It's time to slow it down a bit and enjoy the guilty pleasure of global warming's effects. The weather should be in the 10 -15 C range (50 - 60 F).

In the afternoon we walked around past the fishing boats and the men were fixing the nets, cutting and mending, and getting the nets ready to drop for the next day.

Walked around the the foreshore for a few kilometres and saw a huge sailing ship which had come in. There are a lot of private yachts calling in each night and mooring. A friend of David's from NZ has just been sailing down the Dalmation coast.

... shorts and other "holiday attire". Some were tourists from other parts of Europe, and I chatted with a lady and her husband from Pisa, Italy. The husband didn’t say much so I’m assuming his English skills were a bit limited. The lady spoke excellent English and when I asked her about that she indicated that she’s a tour guide.

Some of the group was already back at the meeting point and at 17:30 we departed ...

... was some sort of festival in the old town and the local Croats performing were really talented. We stayed and listened to a bunch of songs before getting some great gelato and heading back for the night. Our first day in Croatia was a success!

Today we began our day by wandering around the old town a bit more. We walked up to the large church at the top and centre of the old town and were shown some beautiful views below. Ren and I waited while ...
