... it as Jago would never have forgiven me. So settled for lunch and a swim in the sea instead. For dinner we struck gold. We were lucky to get a table at Tipico. The staff were great, everyone in the kitchen even the washing up lady seemed to be enjoying themselves. The guy at the bar usually ate there but was today filling in as his friend was sick and most importantly the food was absolutely delicious. We all agreed it was our best meal so ...

... point from Italy. So we bid farewell to ham products three times a day as our slow ferry lived up to its billing with a chug out into the Adriatic Sea. The town of Rovinj was alive and buzzing when we arrived at 9.30pm. A local group was singing very loudly on a stage by the water. People were drinking, dinning and wandering the streets. The locals were friendly and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I think we are going to like it ...

We were thinking of renting a beach chair and umbrella, ordering a drink and relaxing and ...

    ... group.

We then walked through the narrow streets to the sea wall, where again the boys were disappointed to find no sand, mostly big rocks and concrete. It was also hot in the sun, with little shade other than that from buildings and the umbrellas used to shade tables at the many restaurants. Blake decided he had to get in the water anyways, so took off his shoes and tried getting in from several of the stairs that provided access to ...

    A drive in the country

As long as we have a car, let's take a drive up the coast. Heading to Porec to admire mosaics in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I first admire the polished stones of the shopping area of the old city. These must be a recent upgrade because they are mostly even and easy to walk on.

The first mosaics I notice are glimmering golden above a door in the 6th Century Euphrasian Basilica. We buy our passage and enter. There are columns that have ...
