Fairytale Cities

... buildings. So few people recommended Belgium as a place to add to the list of countries I should visit in Europe, but as I consider myself as an amateur connoisseur of fine architecture, food and history than of party venues, I have enjoyed my time in Belgium immensely, and want to come back to explore Antwerp and Brussels. Ghent is a university city, so I suppose there would be some nightlife - imagine being in a bar overlooking the buildings of the city ...

... caramel sauce and whipped cream. It was crazy rich and unhealthy but damn if it wasn't delicious. I felt kind of queasy later, but ate it all anyway. Then we walked a bit more and decided our feet (which now had giant blisters on the bottom) needed a break, so we did a carriage ride. The horses clop along the cobblestones and people just get out of the way. She took us on a tour of the town, but we'd already seen everything so just relaxed and looked around ...

... 8217; walk from that, there was a swing dance event going on, with some people even getting their hair done up like in 40s-style hairdos.

Already having walked through and seen much of the old city on our first evening, we left the old city and walked out through the gate we came in, retiring back to our place in more modern outer Bruges. We would have the whole next day to explore Bruges some more and to just relax and enjoy the setting.
