... Mallorca was the first place we’ve been where it hasn’t rained while we’ve been touring although, we only missed the storm by a couple of hours – by nine o’clock it was wild and the sea was quite rough although in a ship this size, it doesn’t move around that much.

Pictures will have to follow after I unload the camera

More when we hit Tunis on Suzanne’s birthday.
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain suzanne-norman... until Liam, a deckhand, poked up his head. He said he was sitting there the whole time, but I suspect he had fallen asleep since I had called out a few times when I first arrived.

After he lowered the passarelle and I was able to board, I jumped in the shower to wash off all the smoke and sweat of the night and was soon in bad.

The next day I went with a few of the girls to explore more of the town and to browse some of the shops. Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourneyWe arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.
sa Calobra, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... lunch was served buffet style on the main deck so everyone could eat at their leasure and were it was the most convenient for them.

Waterskiing is very exhausting and after a few hours of playing on the water, the crew loaded everything up and we headed down to coast to the small village of sa Calobra on the Cala de Calobra.
Port de Pollença, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... one you shouldn’t miss if you ever make it to Mallorca.

None of my pics looked very good so, instead of posting my bad pics, below is the link the caves website. Their pics are much better than mine and also show the boats on the underwater lake. http://www.cuevasdeldrach.com/

A fter ...
Porto Cristo, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourney... from Germany. Good music, dancing starts up. We leave at 1:30 to catch the last bus. I am relying on my roommate who is totally confident about the schedule. Well, we wait with others but find out the last bus left awhile back. We need to find a cab which is difficult since everyone is trying to get to a bar/club somewhere. We finally get one. A late night by my standards but just starting to get going. My back could not take any more.
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.travellerBreakfast is provided at the hostel. Coffee, juice, toast and cereal (cornflakes or cocoa puffs). It serves the purpose.

I go to the Palma city center (20 minutes by bus). The historic area is OK. Cathedral is beautiful and there is a Moorish castle. Most of the city lacks character. So, this is pretty much a beach island although I understand there are some nice hikes in its more remote hills.

A ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.travellerEarly morning to the airport for my trip to Mallorca, Spain, an island that is a major beach resort. Everyone is still asleep as I put the final stuff in my backpack. I have enough time so I stop by a supermarket for a liter of yogurt and a pastry store for some chocolate croissants. What do they think as I stop in with my large backpack making me 6'9" and my front backpack making me look pregnant. I can barely make it through the aisles.

The metro goes straight to the ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.traveller10 days of enjoying the good life up in the north of Mallorca.

After a turbulent trip I finally arrived on the very first day of my summerholidays and got picked up by my sister and her friend for some shopping in Palma! Aber erstens finden wir den Strand und das Meer nicht sonderlich sauber (zu viel Algen und anderes Zeug) und zweitens muss sich gerade jetzt die Sonne hinter einer riesigen Wolke verstecken.
