Love Letter to Greece

A travel blog entry by bbk2014 on Jul 12, 2014

... your lively but quaint nightlife was perfect. The way all the families and friends filled the wooden tavern tables on the sidewalk and village square made me long for such a community atmosphere in my own town. Your people didn’t need much alcohol or nightclubs to entertain them, just good food, good friends and family. I could have stayed in your villages for years.

Tourism is the main industry for Katakolon in both summer and winter. We have been shadowed all trip by another cruise ship and were agin ...

I have to admit I was a bit alarmed when he pulled out homebrewed wine in a plastic Coke bottle from behind a shelf but like the pie it was delicious too. I happily left the shop with puppets in one hand and a doggy bag in the other with another peice of pie and my own bottle of homebrew to take with.

I like the Greek way of doing things, theres never a hurry or need to ...

Day 7 of the cruise took us to Aghios Nikolaos, Crete. We had no organised tour for here so we went on a "road train" ride around the city. An interesting city with many of the usual Greek highlights, churches, restaurants and hotels. Once again there were signs of the economic woes of Greece with many abandoned construction sites and closed up buildings. Had a swim at a local beach. Beautiful clear water but the beach was a rocky ...
