Siberia......baby!
Tomsk, Siberia, Russia - A big thank you to two people for their advice and guidance on the Trans-Siberian railway. Firstly Andy Horsman, a colleague of my brother Dave and my sister in law Toni. Andy travelled from the UK to Australia without catching a flight! Very impressive and his extensive knowledge of the railway was very helpful. Check out his blog, http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Andy -Horsman/ to see his adventure! ...
Tomsk - A Positively Russian Experience

09.26: After disembarking from the train we easily pick up a taxi in the traffic melee outside the grand Soviet station building. It's not far to our pre-booked hotel but too far to trudge with our array of packs. The Trans-Siberian Express
The Trans-Siberian Railway is legendary and is rightly regarded as one of the world's great rail journeys. For anyone interested in giving it a go, your first port of call should be ...

From Tomsk to Moscow, this is our longest leg, and we are 52 hours in, with 4 to go. We have gone a bit stir crazy at times (you can only play so many games of gin rummy), and I read a whole book, but it has been pretty cool overall. We have two Russian ladies in our cabin with us, who ...
Tom Tomsk FC
After spending the day in Omsk, we got back on the train for a mere short hop - just the 15 or so hours. This time we shared a cabin with 2 older Russians, aged 50 and 65 - Igor and Vladimir. Initially, we thought it would be a quiet night as they didn't seem to speak English and were getting ready for bed but it turned out that Igor was a Doctor who worked all over Russia and spoke quite good English. We finished off our bottle of cognac ...
