Journey to Interlaken
... group, and then the 4:06 train back from Interlaken to Lucerne. Unfortunately, it was too dark to see much scenery. On the upside, though, we have massive seats on our last first class train! Lisa, Renee and I got some groceries from the “Coop” (pronounced like a coop, not co-op) and then headed back to Renees where Lisa and I made tortellini and salad for dinner. Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland
... of the mountains around us and a thick layer of snow on everything. We spent this day travelling up the 'Top of Europe' with amazing views.. That unfortunately we were unable to see because of the weather.. All well, we got to go into an ice palace and the views on the way back made up for it. We had snowball fights, made snow angels, bought Swiss Army knives, ate traditional fondu, celebrated Matt and Jaz ...
Water, water everywhere
... into Lauterbrunnen. Along the way, we saw some BASE jumpers and even one that hadn’t deployed his chute yet. At first I thought it was a giant black bird making a beeline for some prey, but then a big chute came out of the "bird’s" back. It was frightening just to watch!
The walk was pleasant; we saw cows and sheep (you can tell which tour members are from the country because they’re not stopping to snap pictures of farm animals), ...
Mmmmm ... cake
... It was definitely a long day on the bus. We did stop at an Autogrill, one of Europe’s amazing rest stops. We paid one euro to use the toilets and received a one euro voucher in return. John and I used our vouchers to get a Solero, a Cornetto, and two Kinder eggs (Hi, Yvonne!) at the shop. There was also a bin of free Toblerone samples on the ground floor. I love European rest stops.

Weekend in the Alps!
... a mountain. After buying a new raincoat, we took a cable car from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp and hiked to Mürren. On Sunday we got up early and hiked from Murren to some of alpine farms, Gimmelwald and back down to Lauterbrunnen in the valley.
