... been played under the Menin Gate Memorial in Ieper (Ypres). Our ceremony was the 29618th time the ceremony had been conducted!

... fresh and clear morning. After the oppressive heat, humidity and pollution of Shanghai it was very refreshing. Wandered back to the suite and finished the food up with the view of the Frankfurt skyline. Epic. Packed up and wandered through Turkish town on the way to the train station. ... boat so John could have a power nap as he did not sleep very well last night. He is complaining about all the mosquito bites he has got and of course they are much worse than the ones Isi has, like man flu! We have to agree he does have the most bites, but Isi has the largest ones. He is not used to getting bitten, and don’t we know it!

The weather was cloudy and mild. Unusual for Belgium in the winter.
I went to one of the local bicycle shops in Kortrijk, Mobile and was able to rent a nice touring bike.

As the weather was clear I took the bike for a short ride to Wervik, only `20 km from Kortrijk.
