We explored farther afield; driving down to Chico about forty miles from Red Bluff. Chico has a large 2400 acre park called Bidwell Park which was donated to the city by the Bidwell family. John Bidwell made his fortune in gold about 1848 and became a prominent leader and politician. The Bidwell Mansion also became part of the State Park in the 1920’s. ... 500 gallons a day of water! Also, the rapid decrease in temperature. It went from 80 degrees in southern Oregon down to 60 in about an hour as we headed into California and the Redwoods.

... to greet the hotel guests as they returned to their beds. Included a US fighter pilot. All good fun. Red Bluff looks a nice town, maybe 20,000, based on farming but settled in the 1800s gold rush. Good to see Bruce back in good health, trying to make up for lost time. Highlights * amazing equipment manufactured by OMC & their utes. * Michael & Don making their own "counter-flow club" * Lindauer's River ranch farm Weather was fine & hot around 35C Cheers ...

Yes indeed we were out of here at 11:17. It took us two hours to get to Vacaville....love that bay area traffic. Not much new on I-5 northbound to Red Bluff. Arrived at Durango, love this RV Resort....Luigis delivers right to your RV spot. ...

In Red Bluff at Durango RV Resort we had a very nice site facing the river and some huge oaks, which framed our view of the Sacramento river.
