      ... and wondered why it smelt like wet dog. On exiting the lift we soon found out why when two black Labradors bounded up to greet us - yes the hotel allows pets and it seemed as though our room was right in the middle of it. As you all know that Billy dislikes animal fur and pets in general so this was a fun experience for him lol!! Since it was only for one night and I am used to living in a dog house it didn't worry us too much.

      ... br> We hired a car and drove to Oakland to stay with Lucy's family friends - Annette & Ruedi for a night and had a really nice catch up on our travels. We then had the pleasure to have a nice lunch with our great friend and former Wimbledon, US Open US Davis Cup Winner - Vic Seixas in Mill Valley where Lucy's Dad used to live.

      ... Fisherman's Wharf to return the bike. At one point I must have taken a wrong turn and went off road, then ended up having to carry the bike up steps!
      There are dedicated bike lanes on a lot of the roads, and car drivers are very respectful of cyclists. There are also lots of stop signs and I was never sure who had right of way, but I managed not to get run over.

      I raced back to the hotel for a shower then back ...

      We head downtown so we can cross the bay bridge into Oakland and begin our journey out towards Yosemite to spend the night.
