    ... in Clear Lake was very beautiful. Rolling green hills with forests were everywhere. We arrived after traveling 17 miles of mountainous curves around 6 PM. We had already been on the road for six hours!

    The resort is situated on Clear Lake, two and a half hours north of San Francisco. It is a Spanish Mission-style design. There was a pool, kiddie pool, a large hot tub and a dock/pier which you can walk out on the lake on.

    ... Christmas Day so they were guessing all the way into town on the tram to the Palace Hotel.

    We arrived to an amazing sight and were seated for our Christmas buffet brunch. It was brilliant! The pictures tell the story better than a description but was just wow including the live music, towering Christmas trees, gingerbread houses and giant snow globes filled with candy, gingerbread images.

    Tuesday I had decided to explore the wine region so took a tour to Napa and Somata where much wine sampling took place. The most interesting part was a lunch stop at Somata square where I bucked the trend from the recommended bakery and took myself off to the shade of a courtyard in the posh hotel and had a very good veggie sandwich and a glass of wine.!     ... coffee from the Starbucks in the hotel lobby and I grabbed a beer from our fridge back in the room. The girls were back too and had had a nice afternoon in the shops. All rested we went out for a great meal in a restaurant one block away called Masons. The food and atmosphere was really cool.
