... the zoo, and then we wandered around the zoo for awhile.

We only had a few hours to spare at the zoo because as I said, Yosemite was far away. But we walked around a bit, we saw the insect house, which Justin especially enjoyed since there were bees and cockroaches. Then from there we saw koalas, penguins, rhinos, hippos, tigers, lions, and monkeys. Then unfortunately we had to be on our way. The zoo was beautiful though, it ...

... than we had hoped, traffic heading out was crazy, but worth the trip. Having seen the bridge in all its misty mystery, today it was standing out against a blue sky. We feel we've seen it in both its best States. We didn't stay there long, and jumped back in the bus for a much quicker trip back downtown. ... has maintained the old fashioned style of the cars over the years. Our Alcatraz ticket was for 12.30, so we had time before that to have a quick cooked breakfast, then do the 90 minute Downtown tour. So that's what we did, except with the route tour modified because of congestion relating to Fleet week and the Italian Festival it only took an hour. Fleet week is when the navy, usually based in San Diego, comes to town. Today - Sunday - is the finale to ...

... ride, and well worth it.

The only good thing about the sightseeing tour is that the ticket is valid for 24 hours, so the next day we could still use it to go on the remaining route to the Golden Gate Park. After we got back it was time to drive to LA. Route 1 down the coast had come with good reviews, so we were pretty excited. In fact, it exceeded expectations. The coastline is fantastic with rugged rocks and crashing waves. The highlight, however, came ...
